High contents of Ca2+ was revealed in thrombocytes' intracellular compartments in patients with essential hypertension. In response to different stimuli, large amount of Ca2+ can be released in the platelets of the patients which makes a considerable contribution to generation of the Ca2+ signal and activation of thrombocytes in cardiovascular diseases.

Fungal diseases, despite their low incidence in sharks and rays, are considered emerging diseases in this group of animals and can lead to high mortality rates despite treatment. The information available related to the treatment of fungal diseases in elasmobranchs is limited and is frequently based on the empirical knowledge provided by the professionals and clinicians working with these species. The use of azole antifungal drugs, especially voriconazole, has shown promise as a potential treatment option for fungal infections in elasmobranchs, with favorable outcomes in some registered cases.

Objectives: To assess the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of imipenem in a retrospective cohort of hospitalized Chinese older patients.
Methods: A population pharmacokinetic (PPK) model was constructed utilizing a nonlinear mixed-effects modeling approach. The final model underwent evaluation through bootstrap resampling and visual predictive checks.

Background: Dabigatran etexilate (DABE), a prodrug of dabigatran (DAB), is a direct thrombin inhibitor used to prevent ischemic stroke and thromboembolism during atrial fibrillation. The effect of genetic polymorphisms on its metabolism, particularly , has not been extensively explored in humans. This study aimed to investigate the effects of , , and polymorphisms on the pharmacokinetics of DAB and its acylglucuronide metabolites in healthy subjects.

Peritoneal tuberculosis (TB) is a rare extrapulmonary form of TB that often mimics ovarian malignancy, posing diagnostic challenges. This report presents a 16-year-old Jordanian female with abdominal distension, weakness, anorexia, and night sweats. Initial imaging, including contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CT), revealed compartmentalized ascites, peritoneal thickening, and enlarged ovaries with masses, suggesting possible ovarian malignancy.

The multiplication rates of pathogenic organisms influence disease progression, efficacy of immunity and therapeutics, and potential for within-host evolution. Thus, accurate estimates of multiplication rates are essential for biological understanding. We recently showed that common methods for inferring multiplication rates from malaria infection data substantially overestimate true values (i.
