Phosphorus contents of epidermal vacuoles and mesophyll cells of Lupinus lutens leaflets were measured by electron probe x-ray microanalysis of fully hydrated, bulk frozen samples. Quantitation was achieved using standard solutions containing colloidal graphite to simulate cell contents and the derived nonlinear relationship between peak over background ratio and concentration improved the accuracy of the analytical procedure. Inorganic phosphate contents of mesophyll cells were shown to be highly dependent on phosphate nutrition. Comparison with data obtained from conventional analysis leads to the suggestion that in heterogeneous tissues the inorganic phosphate concentrations of the cytoplasm may show greater variation than observed in the cytoplasm of simple plant systems such as cell suspension and root tips.

Fascin cross-links actin filaments (F-actin) into bundles that support tubular membrane protrusions including filopodia and stereocilia. Fascin dysregulation drives aberrant cell migration during metastasis, and fascin inhibitors are under development as cancer therapeutics. Here, we use cryo-EM, cryo-electron tomography coupled with custom denoising and computational modeling to probe human fascin-1's F-actin cross-linking mechanisms across spatial scales.

Herein, we investigated the carrier-phonon relaxation process in a two-dimensional (2D) BAPbBr perovskite and its heterostructure with MoS. Energy transfer was observed in the van der Waals heterostructure of 2D perovskite and monolayer MoS, leading to enhancement in the photoluminescence intensity of MoS. Femtosecond pump-probe spectroscopy was used to study the carrier and lattice dynamics of pristine 2D materials and their heterostructure.

Currently, the study of cuproptosis focuses on the Cu-induced morphology changes in mitochondria (Mito), and the observation of the effect of endoplasmic reticulum (ER)-related Cu content on cuproptosis is relatively lacking. Herein, we have developed a hydroxyflavone (HF)-based NIR excited two-photon fluorescent probe, BHCO, that exhibits specific recognition of Cu with high resolution. BHCO-Cu (Cu2BC) can lead to DLAT protein aggregation, triggering cuproptosis.

Purpose: Solid crystalline spin probes, such as lithium phthalocyanine (LiPc) and lithium octa-n-butoxynaphthalocyanine (LiNc-BuO), allow repeated oxygen measurement using electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR). Due to their short relaxation times, their use for pulse EPR oxygen imaging is limited. In this study, we developed and tested a new class of solid composite spin probes that modified the relaxation rates R and R of LiPc or LiNc-BuO probes, which allowed pO measurements in the full dynamic (0-760 torr) range.

Purpose: Redox homeostasis plays a key role in regulating the overall health and development of organisms. This study aimed to develop a compact and mobile continuous-wave (CW) electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) imager to facilitate stable, highly sensitive fast three-dimensional (3D) whole-body imaging of nitroxide-infused mice.
Methods: A multiturn loop gap resonator with a diameter of 30 mm and length of 35 mm was designed for whole-body EPR imaging.
