Seed germination and seedling establishment are characterized by changes in the intracellular redox state modulated by accelerated production of nitric oxide (NO) and reactive oxygen species (ROS). Redox regulation and enhanced accumulation of NO and ROS, approaching excessively high levels during seed imbibition, are critically important for breaking endodormancy and inducing germination. Upon depletion of oxygen under the seed coat, NO is produced anaerobically in the reductive pathway associated mainly with mitochondria, and it participates in the energy metabolism of the seed until radicle protrusion.

A new series of aminodiols, aminotetraols and 1,2,3-triazoles based on -gibberic acid were synthesized in a stereoselective manner, starting from commercially available gibberellic acid. -Gibberic acid, prepared from gibberellic acid according to a literature method, was applied to SeO/-BuOOH-mediated allylic oxidation, yielding the triol, which is a key intermediate. After protecting the 1,4-diol functionality as acetonide, epoxidation was performed using either -CPBA or -BuOOH/VO(acac) to produce the epoxy alcohol.

A new library of -gibberic acid-based aminoalcohol regioisomers was synthesised stereoselectively starting from commercially available gibberellic acid, which yields -gibberic acid under mild acidic conditions. The successful formation of hydroxymethyl ketone derivative 5, by acid-mediated rearrangement of previously prepared epoxide, paved the way to obtain the desired 1,3-aminoalcohols through Schiff base formation. To obtain the desired regioisomers, the primary alcohol functionality of 5 was subjected to mesylation, then replaced with either primary amine or sodium azide.

The precise mechanism behind the association between plants' reactions to cadmium (Cd) stress and brassinosteroid (BR) remains unclear. In the current investigation, Cd stress quickly increased the endogenous BR concentration in the rice roots. Exogenous BR also increased the hemicellulose level in the root cell wall, which in turn increased its capacity to bind Cd.

Around the world, a variety of crops, including tomatoes, suffer serious economic losses due to the Rhizoctonia root-rot disease. Herein, Bacillus velezensis, Bacillus megaterium, and Herpaspirillum huttiense isolated from strawberry (Fragaria chiloensis var. ananassa) plants were pragmatic as plant growth promotors for battling the Rhizoctonia root rot disease and bringing about defense mechanisms as well as growth promotional strategies in tomato plants.
