C-type two-thermocouple sensor design between 1000 and 1700 °C.

Rev Sci Instrum

October 2024

Key Laboratory of Instrumentation Science and Dynamic Measurement, Ministry of Education, North University of China, Taiyuan, Shanxi 030051, China.

Article Synopsis
  • Current methods of measuring temperature changes in boron-containing warm-pressure explosives using single thermocouples are ineffective due to their inconsistent performance.
  • A new C-type two-thermocouple has been developed to enhance transient temperature measurement with improved system characterization and optimal solution finding methods.
  • Experimental validation in a high-temperature furnace demonstrated that the two-thermocouple setup yields better temperature measurement accuracy, achieving a low error rate and high goodness of fit.

Groundwater quality in Wadi Fatimah is evaluated and demarcated for agriculture utilities using comprehensive approaches namely, international standards, agricultural water quality (AWQ) indices, irrigation water quality index (IWQI), and trace metals. Groundwater samples were collected (n = 59) and analysed for EC, pH, major and minor ions and trace metals. According to FAO recommendations, 42% of samples (EC > 3000 µS/cm) are inappropriate for agricultural uses.

Interfacial bonding that directly influences the functional and mechanical properties of metal/nonmetal composites is commonly estimated by destructive pull-off measurements such as scratch tests, etc. However, these destructive methods may not be applicable under certain extreme environments; it is urgently necessary to develop a nondestructive quantification technique to determine the composite's performance. In this work, the time-domain thermoreflectance (TDTR) technique is applied to study the inter-relationship between interfacial bonding and interface characteristics through thermal boundary conductance () measurements.

Wild-growing Greek tulips are protected plants but almost nothing is known about their natural nutrient status and rhizosphere fungal morphotypes in the wild, thus no insight is currently available into their growth and adaptation to their natural environment or artificial settings. To this end, several botanical expeditions were conducted with a special collection permit, and 34 tulip and soil samples were collected, representing 13 species from two phytogeographical regions of Greece (North Aegean Islands, Crete Island) and seven regions of mainland Greece. The tulips' content in essential macro- and micro-nutrients, respective physicochemical soil properties, and rhizosphere fungal morphotypes were assessed across samples, and all parameters were subjected to appropriate statistical analysis to determine their interrelationships.

Growing Season, Cultivar, and Nitrogen Supply Affect Leaf and Fruit Micronutrient Status of Field-Grown Kiwiberry Vines.

Plants (Basel)

December 2022

Section of Basic Research in Horticulture, Department of Plant Protection, Institute of Horticultural Sciences, Warsaw University of Life Sciences-SGGW (WULS-SGGW), Nowoursynowska 159, 02-776 Warsaw, Poland.

The N uptake can affect kiwiberry yield and quality; however, the relationship between an increasing N dose and micronutrient accumulation in leaves and fruit is still to be elucidated. Interrelationships between essential nutrients are one of the most important issues in terms of effectiveness in plant mineral nutrition. A pattern in leaf nutrient accumulation throughout the growing period is required to indicate a suitable sampling time for the purpose of nutrient diagnostics and controlled plant feeding.
