Objective: To analyze the characteristics of pulmonary nodules (PNs) and related influencing factors in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).

Methods: Retrospectively analyzed the clinical and biochemical characteristics of 224 patients with PNs and 488 patients with non-PNs in patients with T2DM, and compared the clinical data of 72 patients with large nodules (≥ 5 mm) and 152 patients with small nodules (< 5 mm) in the pulmonary nodules (PNs) group.

Results: Compared to the non-PNs group, the PNs Patients in the group had a longer duration of diabetes, higher age, serum creatinine (SCR), blood urea nitrogen (BUN) and the lower albumin (ALB) and body mass index (BMI); women, diabetic retinopathy (DR), diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN), and estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) < 60 ml/min1.

There is limited evidence of the health impact of Low Emission Zones (also known as Clean Air Zones, CAZ). This study examines the impact of the Bradford Clean Air Plan (CAP), including a CAZ, on health and nitrogen dioxide (NO) in the first two years of implementation using an interrupted time series design. Primary care and emergency department visits for respiratory and cardiovascular illness in Bradford were recorded between January 2018 to September 2023 with diabetic footcare and head injury visits as controls.

Near-infrared (NIR) spectroscopy with chemometrics was used to evaluate semi-refined flaxseed protein extract (SRFPE) and predict its protein content. The effect of extraction medium (water vs. alkaline) employed after pulsed electric field (PEF) treatment on protein yield was also studied.

An agar hydrogel-CuNPs/N@CQDs dual-mode colorimetric/fluorescent indicator for non-destructive monitoring of banana ripening.

Food Chem

January 2025

Department of Food Science and Technology, College of Agriculture, Isfahan University of Technology, Isfahan 84156-83111, Iran. Electronic address:

A colorimetric-fluorescence ripeness indicator, based on copper nanoparticles and carbon quantum dots doped with nitrogen (CuNPs/N@CQD) immobilized in agar hydrogel (AGH-CuNPs/N@CQDs) for ethylene gas detection, was developed for detecting the ripening of bananas. Ethylene could reduce the fluorescence intensity of CuNPs/N@CQDs and cause a red shift of the LSPR peak. The prepared AGH-CuNPs/N@CQDs indicator had an irreversible response to ethylene with LOD and LOQ of 9.

Rice, a globally important staple, requires effective preservation methods to maintain its quality during extended storage. This study explored the efficacy of nitrogen-controlled atmosphere (NCA) storage in preserving the quality of brown rice during a one-year period using UHPLC-MS/MS based lipidomic profiling. A total of 1013 lipids were identified and categorized into five main groups.
