The underlying mechanisms governing the interactions between nanoparticles and vascular endothelial barrier remain largely unexplored, which is crucial for the optimal design of nanoparticles for clinical applications. In this study, the size-dependent interactions between calciprotein particles (CPPs) and endothelial cells (ECs) were investigated using a rat model of chronic kidney disease (CKD) induced by 5/6 nephrectomy. Two primary types of CPP1 were studied: small-sized CPP1 (S-CPP1, <50 nm) and larger CPP1 (L-CPP1, <100 nm), detected three and five weeks post-surgery, respectively.

In February 1968, NASA purchased 400 antigravity ballpoint pens from the Fisher Pen Company for the Apollo Program to prevent potential harm to astronauts and equipment. Mechanical pencils previously used in microgravity posed risks like eye injuries from floating fragments penetrating the cornea. The cornea is vulnerable to abrasions, perforations, and chemical burns in such environments, affecting crewmembers aboard the International Space Station (ISS).

Introduction: We developed a custom digital drawing application to assess hand function. We conducted an initial validation study of this technique to (1) assess which drawing features are associated with hand function, (2) differentiate patients from control subjects for both dominant and nondominant hands, and (3) assess the correlation of drawing features with previously validated patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs).
Methods: In this prospective study, participants were asked to draw shapes on an Apple iPad with a digital pen using a custom app.

The performance of Raman spectroscopy (RS) has improved in recent years due to the significant advantages of its use in various fields, such as archaeology, medicine, foods, and forensics. An aspect of great relevance in forensic investigation is preserving criminal evidence, and nondestructive techniques for analysis are needed. RS has great potential for characterizing pen inks in questioned documents, and it has even been considered promising for trace intersection and dating investigations.
