We have screened molecules for inhibition of MetAP2 as a novel approach toward antiangiogenesis and anticancer therapy using affinity selection/mass spectrometry (ASMS) employing MetAP2 loaded with Mn(2+) as the active site metal. After a series of anthranilic acid sulfonamides with micromolar affinities was identified, chemistry efforts were initiated. The micromolar hits were quickly improved to potent nanomolar inhibitors by chemical modifications guided by insights from X-ray crystallography.

Purpose: To evaluate the efficacy of sulfasalazine (SSZ) for recurrent acute anterior uveitis (AAU).
Methods: Retrospective chart review of patients diagnosed with recurrent AAU treated with SSZ from January 2008 to September 2023. The grading of uveitis activity was defined as per SUN working group.

Sulfaquinoxaline (SQX) is widely utilized in aquaculture and animal husbandry due to its broad antimicrobial spectrum and low cost. However, it is difficult to degrade, and there are relevant residues in the aquatic environment, which could be harmful to both the ecological environment and human health. As a new recognition molecule, the aptamer can be recognized with SQX with high affinity and specificity, and the aptamer is no longer adsorbed to AuNPs after binding to SQX, which weakens the catalytic effect of AuNPs.

Background: Leishmaniases are neglected tropical diseases with great clinical and epidemiological importance. The current chemotherapy available for the treatment of leishmaniasis presents several problems, such as adverse effects, toxicity, long treatment time, and parasite resistance. The discovery of new therapeutic alternatives is extremely essential, and the discovery of cellular targets is a tool that helps in the development of new drugs.

Background: Extended-spectrum β-lactamase-producing Enterobacterales (ESBL-PE), particularly Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae, have been consistently associated with treatment failure, high mortality and morbidity. The emergence of carbapenem resistance among ESBL-PE strains exacerbates the antimicrobial resistance. However, data are very limited in developing countries as Burkina Faso.

Room-temperature non-aqueous sodium metal batteries are viable candidates for cost-effective and safe electrochemical energy storage. However, they show low specific energy and poor cycle life as the use of conventional organic-based non-aqueous electrolyte solutions enables the formation of interphases that cannot prevent degradations at the positive and negative electrodes. Here, to promote the formation of inorganic NaF-rich interphases on both negative and positive electrodes, we propose the salt-in-presalt (SIPS) electrolyte formulation strategy.
