Nitrogen-containing chemicals are one of the important families of compounds relevant to the purposes of the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC). Several applications, using various injection modes, of new deactivated columns specially designed for basic compounds are presented. These columns prove remarkably well-suited to the gas chromatographic (GC) analysis of the chemicals of interest, even to underivatized amino-alcohols, whose analysis on conventional GC columns is often difficult and hindered by poor resolution and high detection limits. Such a deactivated phase can even replace the typical GC phases used for CWC verification purposes.

A thermal desorption FF-TG-GC/MS method with a cycle time of just 164s including cryofocusing, thermal desorption, analyte separation and system cool down was developed for the analysis of ten explosives and six chemical warfare agent (CWA) simulants. Sampling was carried out both in liquid and gaseous form using micro thermal desorption tubes (μTD-tubes, 1.4mm I.

Multiloop splitter-based non-cryogenic artificial trapping (M-SNAT) modulation technique was developed, miniaturized and applied in comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography (GC×GC) for analysis of cannabis samples. The approach employed deactivated fuse silica (DFS) columns configured into multiple loop splitter system halving the perimeters of the progressively upstream loops. This splitter device was located between the first (D) semi-nonpolar column outlet and a microfluidic Deans switch (DS).

β-Mannanase producing fungus was isolated from coffee powder waste and identified as Aspergillus niger MSSFW (Gen Bank accession number OR668928). Dates nawah powder as industrial and agricultural waste was the most inducer of β-mannanase production. The Plackett-Burman and Central Composite designs were used to improve β-mannanase titer.

Biocatalytic oxidation is an interesting prospect for the selective synthesis of active pharmaceutical intermediates. Bubbling air or oxygen is considered as an efficient method to increase the gas-liquid interface and thereby enhance oxygen transfer. However, the enzyme is deactivated in this process and needs to be further studied and understood to accelerate the implementation of oxidative biocatalysis in larger production processes.
