According to international guidelines, recurrent inguinal hernia should be treated by a surgical approach opposing of the primary strategy (anterior-posterior or posterior-anterior). However, recent evidence demonstrates feasibility and safety of re-laparoscopic repair of recurrent inguinal hernia after primary laparoscopy. For such a strategy, correct identification of anatomical structures is challenging, but absolutely crucial for a satisfactory postoperative result.

Purpose: Variations of the peripheral nervous system in the upper limb, especially of the musculocutaneous and median nerves, are common, but closer attention to the knowledge of the variant anatomy should be paid to avoid iatrogenic injury or to understand the unusual clinical signs.
Methods: During a routine dissection course, bilateral variations were observed in a Central European male cadaver.
Results: Variable branching of the musculocutaneous and median nerves associated with atypical innervation of the muscles in the anterior compartment of the arm and other concomitant variations were found bilaterally.

This article is the fourth and last part of a series aimed at extending and correcting the anatomical nomenclature. Because of the rapid development of internet and the use of electronic formats in communication in anatomy, embryology, histology, medical education, and clinical medicine, an appropriate, precise, and concise anatomical nomenclature is required. Such tool enables to avoid any potential confusion and possible scientific/medical mistakes.

Due to varying descriptions and terminology of fascias of the neck, medical advice relying on this basic knowledge is insufficient. Our goal was to provide a precise anatomical description of cervical fascias and spaces with special focus on the intercarotid fascia, or the alar fascia. One hundred bodies donated to science embalmed with Thiel's method were investigated, cervical fascias were dissected layer by layer, and the results were documented by photography, with a focus on the intercarotid fascia.
