Spontaneous internal carotid recanalization has been infrequently observed, and when it has been reported, it has most commonly occurred early after a stroke. We report a case of a patient with late spontaneous recanalization of the internal carotid artery (ICA) that occurred within 6 months to 1 year after the initial diagnosis of occlusion during the course of a stroke. This event allowed the patient to undergo a successful surgical intervention. A suggestion is made about the mechanism of this phenomenon and an implication about changes in the follow-up strategies of these patients is presented.

Introduction: Distal arterial occlusions can cause measurable changes in the flow wave profile in proximal segments of the feeding artery. Our objective was to study the diagnostic accuracy of point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) of the common carotid arteries (CCA) for detection of anterior circulation large vessel occlusion (ac-LVO) in patients with suspected stroke.
Patients And Methods: We conducted a prospective, single-center, observational study of adult patients with suspected stroke admitted in the emergency department.

Objective: Elevated intracranial pressure (ICP), a common complication in traumatic brain injuries (TBI), can lead to optic nerve sheath diameter (ONSD) enlargement and flow spectrum changes from the internal carotid artery (ICA) to middle cerebral artery (MCA). This study will investigate the use of Cervical-Cerebral Arterial Ultrasound (CCAU) for non-invasive ICP assessment and evaluating the related indices' clinical utility in TBI patients with decompressive craniotomy (DC).
Methods: ONSD and flow spectrum changes were measured within 24 h after DC in 106 patients via ultrasonic ONSD measurement and CCAU, simultaneously.

To assess the feasibility and safety of cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) advanced navigation for optimizing intra-arterial chemotherapy infusion (IACI) in patients with skull base tumors. Retrospective review on 10 consecutive IACI procedures performed in five patients (four women, 1 man) over a 1-year period. The median age of the patients was 71 years (interquartile range: 34-74).

In the present study, we investigated the round window (RW) and neighboring anatomical structures using temporal computed tomography (CT) which are important for cochlear implant (CI) electrodes. In this retrospective study, the temporal CT images of 112 adult patients (45 males and 67 females) were evaluated. We classified mastoid pneumatization, and measured RW diameter, RW-carotid canal (CC) distance, RW-facial nerve mastoid segment (FNMS) distance, RW-pyramidal eminence distance, RW-jugular bulb (JB) distance, and RW-internal acoustic canal (IAC) distance.

Common genetic variants in a conserved cis-regulatory element (CRE) at histone deacetylase (HDAC)9 are a major risk factor for cardiovascular disease, including stroke and coronary artery disease. Given the consistency of this association and its proinflammatory properties, we examined the mechanisms whereby HDAC9 regulates vascular inflammation. HDAC9 bound and mediated deacetylation of NLRP3 in the NACHT and LRR domains leading to inflammasome activation and lytic cell death.
