This experiment evaluated the effects of bovine appeasing substance (BAS) administration at feedlot entry on growth, temperament, inflammation, response to vaccination, behavior, carcass characteristics, and meat quality of beef heifers. Thirty heifers were weaned and assigned to (d 0): (1) BAS (n = 15; SecureCattle; IRSEA Group) or (2) Saline (n = 15). On d 0, heifers were also vaccinated against respiratory diseases and slaughtered on d 150.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFPeople who stutter are at a greater risk for developing symptoms of social anxiety, with up to 22-60% of adults who stutter meeting the criteria for a clinical diagnosis. Negative attitudes and feelings about speaking and stuttering are reported to emerge as early as the preschool years and are suspected to be due to exposure to negative listener reactions, stereotyping and social isolation. Repeated negative experiences lead to feelings of fear, embarrassment and loss of control during speaking which over time, leads to the development of more severe difficulties with speaking and an overall apprehension to speak as they perceive themselves as an incompetent communicator.

Objective: To explore the dynamic changes of psychological distress among patients with gynecological cancers across their treatment journey and identify the characteristics of subgroups of patients with distinct trajectories.
Methods: This study included a convenience sample of 132 patients with cervical cancer, ovarian cancer or endometrial cancer who received surgery and adjuvant chemotherapy in the gynecological department of a Grade III and Class A general hospital in Liaoning Province between November 2022 and October 2023. Patients' mean age was 55.
