Hydrogen/deuterium isotopic substitution neutron diffraction techniques have been used to measure the structural correlation functions of liquid tetrahydrofuran at room temperature. Empirical potential structure refinement (EPSR) has been used to build a three-dimensional model of the liquid structure that is consistent with the experimental data. Analysis to the level of the orientational correlation functions shows that the liquid displays a preference for T-like configurations between the tetrahydrofuran molecules, a local structure that results in void-like regions of approximately 1.25 angstroms radius within the bulk liquid. The surface chemistry of these voids suggests a slightly positive electrostatic character. These findings are consistent with the known propensity of the liquid to solvate free electrons.

Emerging evidence indicates that intratumor bacteria exist as an active and specific tumor component in many tumor types beyond digestive and respiratory tumors. However, the biological impact and responsible molecules of such local bacteria-tumor direct interaction on cancer therapeutic response remain poorly understood. Trastuzumab is among the most commonly used drugs targeting the receptor tyrosine-protein kinase erbB-2 (ErbB2) in breast cancer, but its resistance is inevitable, severely limiting its clinical effectiveness.

Hole-transport layers (HTL) in perovskite solar cells (PSCs) with an n-i-p structure are commonly doped by bis(trifluoromethane)sulfonimide (TFSI) salts to enhance hole conduction. While lithium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide (LiTFSI) dopant is a widely used and effective dopant, it has significant limitations, including the need for additional solvents and additives, environmental sensitivity, unintended oxidation, and dopant migration, which can lead to lower stability of PSCs. A novel ionic liquid, 1-(2-methoxyethyl)-1-methylpyrrolidinium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)amide (MMPyTFSI), is explored as an alternative dopant for 2,2',7,7'-tetrakis(N,N-di-p-methoxyphenylamino)-9,9'-spirobifluorene (spiro-OMeTAD).

Liquid crystal monomers (LCMs) are potentially persistent, bioaccumulative, and toxic emerging pollutants. However, their occurrence in outdoor PM and related human exposure risks remain unknown. In this study, 32 composite samples were analyzed, which were prepared from daily PM samples collected throughout the year 2021 -2022 in Beijing, China.

Reversed-phase liquid chromatography (RPLC) offers significant advantages over traditional methods for estimating octanol-water partition constants, which are a critical parameter in drug discovery. In contrast to classical methods for determining the octanol-water partition constant, such as shake-flask techniques, RPLC is less time-consuming and easier to automate. In this study, we explored three alternative organic solvent modifiers: acetone, 2-propanol, and tetrahydrofuran for the indirect determination of the octanol-water partition constant for neutral compounds by RPLC using either isocratic retention factors or retention factors extrapolated to 100 % water for several stationary phases.

Neonicotinoid pesticides act as nAChRs modulators that affect neurotransmission. Due to toxicity effects, their use has been restricted.
