A novel small molecule compound which exerts insulin mimetic is desirable. Dozens of natural products that have quinone, naphthoquinone, or anthraquinone structure, were tested by a glucose incorporation assay. We found that sennidin A, anthraquinone derivative, stimulated glucose incorporation to near level of maximal insulin-stimulated and sennidin B, a stereoisomer of sennidin A, also stimulated, but the activity of sennidin B was lower than sennidin A. Sennidin A-stimulated glucose incorporation was completely inhibited by wortmannin. Sennidin A did not induce tyrosine phosphorylation of insulin receptor (IR) and insulin receptor substrate-1 (IRS-1), but induced phosphorylation of Akt and glucose transporter 4 (GLUT4) translocation. Our results suggest that in rat adipocytes, sennidin A stimulates glucose incorporation in the phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K)- and Akt-dependent, but in the IR/IRS1-independent manner.

Background: Although post-transplant diabetes mellitus (PTDM) is a common complication after kidney transplantation, there are few data on prevention, optimal screening, and treatment strategies.
Methods: The European Renal Association's DESCARTES working group distributed a web-based survey to European transplant centres to gather information on risk assessment, screening procedures, and management practices for preventing and treating PTDM in kidney transplant recipients.
Results: Answers were obtained from 121/241 transplant centres (50%) across 15 European countries.

RIBULOSE-1,5-BISPHOSPHATE CARBOXYLASE/OXYGENASE (RUBISCO) is the most abundant enzyme and CO2 bio-sequestration system on Earth. Its in vivo activity is usually determined by 14CO2 incorporation into 3-phosphoglycerate (3PGA). However, the radiometric analysis of 3PGA does not distinguish carbon positions.

Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate the 6-month impact of the Chronic Disease Self-Management Program based on the Stanford chronic condition model on behavioral and clinical indicators in individuals with chronic illnesses.
Patients And Methods: This prospective, quasi-experimental study was conducted in primary healthcare centers located in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. A total of 110 adults aged 18 years or older, living with at least one chronic disease, and receiving treatment at a primary healthcare center were included.

The g-C3N4/CS biosensor was designed, fabricated, and tested using compounds such as glucose, urine, lactose, and flutamide at a molarity of 10 µM, which could demonstrate a high sensitivity of 200 μm-1 for flutamide. Powerful effective medium theory and FDTD simulation were used to predict the most favorable mode and plasmonic properties of a graphite carbon nitride and chitosan nanocomposite. The research also explores the characteristics of surface plasmon resonance exhibited by the nanocomposite as the chitosan content is adjusted.

D-allose is a rare monosaccharide, found naturally in low abundances. Due to its low-calorie profile and similar taste to sucrose, D-allose has the potential to become an ideal sugar substitute. D-allose also displays unique properties and health benefits that can be applied to various fields, including food and medicine.
