Elucidating vector distribution based on an accurate species identification is important to understanding the nature of the species complex in order to achieve vector control. Morphologically, An. minimus s.l. is difficult to distinguish from both its species complex and its closely related species. A polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) technique and a single multiplex-allele specific PCR developed for species identification were applied in this study in comparison with morphological identification. Both methods were used, combining with geographical information systems to determine the distribution of An. minimus species A and C. The investigation on the breeding habitats was performed in the malarious area of western Thailand. Anopheles larvae were collected from 36 bodies of water among five districts (Sangkhaburi, Thong Pha Phum, Si Sawat, Muang, and Sai Yok) of Kanchanaburi Province, Thailand. In this study, An. minimus A larvae were present in all study districts but the association differed when focusing on study sites within each district. Although there were many reports of An. minimus A in Ban Phu Rat and Ban Phu Toei villages in Sai Yok District, we did not find the breeding sites of species A in those two areas. An. minimus A and C were found in Ban Phu Ong Ka village in Sai Yok District. The breeding habitats of An. minimus C were present covering 30-40 km of distance in northern part of Sai Yok and this species was also found in the central and southern parts of Si Sawat District.

The study explored batch adsorption of Cd(II) and Pb(II) ions using moss biomass from and , assessing removal efficiency concerning various parameters. Both moss species showed high removal rates for Cd(II) (87 % for and 89 % for ) and Pb(II) (93 % for and 94 % for ) from contaminated water, reaching equilibrium within 30 min. While Cd(II) removal was pH-independent, Pb(II) removal showed pH-dependence, peaking at pH 5.

The Labeoninae subfamily is a highly diversified but demonstrably monophyletic lineage of cyprinid fishes comprising five tribes and six incertae sedis genera. This widely distributed assemblage contains some 48 genera and around 480 recognized species distributed in freshwaters of Africa and Asia. In this study, the karyotypes and other chromosomal properties of five Labeoninae species found in Thailand Labeo chrysophekadion (Labeonini) and Epalzeorhynchos bicolor, Epalzeorhynchos munense, Henicorhynchus siamensis, Thynnichthys thynnoides (´Osteochilini´) were examined using conventional and molecular cytogenetic protocols.

It is the sixth species of Garra known from the Salween River basin and is readily distinguished from all congeners by the red-orange color of the body and caudal fin, and a pointed proboscis with a blue stripe on each side from the anterior margin of the orbit to the tip of the proboscis and with the stripes forming a V-shape. Garra panitvongi is known in the aquarium trade as the Redtail Garra.

Background: The mosquito landing rate measured by human landing catches (HLC) is the conventional endpoint used to evaluate the impact of vector control interventions on human-vector exposure. Non-exposure based alternatives to the HLC are desirable to minimize the risk of accidental mosquito bites. One such alternative is the human-baited double net trap (HDN), but the estimated personal protection of interventions using the HDN has not been compared to the efficacy estimated using HLC.
