Botryosphaeria viticola sp. nov., isolated from pruned canes of Vitis vinifera in NE Spain, is described and illustrated. Phylogenetic analysis based on ITS and EF1-alpha sequences and morphological characters of both anamorph and teleomorph confirmed this taxon to be included within the group of Botryosphaeria species with Dothiorella anamorphs. It is related most closely to B. sarmentorum and B. iberica from which it differs in morphological characters of the teleomorph and DNA sequences.

In 2016, an almond () decline syndrome (ADS) emerged in intensive almond plantations in the Andalusia region (southern Spain), showing branch dieback, gummosis, and general tree decline. The aim of this work was to elucidate the etiology of this disease complex. For this purpose, surveys were conducted across the Andalusia region, and a wide collection of fungi was recovered from wood samples showing gum and internal discoloration.

Grapevine trunk diseases (GTDs) are found in vineyards worldwide and can be caused by different fungal pathogens. To characterize types of GTDs in Oregon vineyards, and how the GTD pathogens' prevalence is affected by two geographical regions, a survey was conducted in which grapevine trunk samples were collected from 15 and 14 wine grape () vineyards in southern and northern Oregon, respectively. Fungal species were identified through culture and PCR-based methods.

A decline of various grapevines ( L.) in the province of Doukkala in Morocco was observed in 2021. The causal pathogen was identified as based on morphological characteristics and phylogenetic analysis of the internal transcribed region (ITS), the β-tubulin gene (TUB) and calmodulin (cmdA).

Botryosphaeria dieback (BD) is a grapevine trunk disease (GTD) causing significant yield losses and limiting the lifespan of vineyards worldwide. Fungi responsible for BD infect grapevines primarily through pruning wounds, and thus pruning wound protection, using either synthetic chemicals or biological control agents (BCAs), is the main available management strategy. However, no products to control GTDs are currently registered in Canada.
