Supramolecular gels and liquid-crystalline materials containing borondipyrromethene (F-Bodipy) are a new class of highly luminescent materials built by attachment of long-chain alkoxydiacylamido scaffoldings to boradiazaindacene templates. Robust gels were formed in nonane, and luminescence spectroscopy was used to probe the aggregation processes of the flat indacene cores. Coincidently, columnar mesophase was obtained from the pure material over a wide temperature range, allowing textural observations by fluorescence microscopy.

It is of great significance to develop sensors for trace pesticide residues detection in food. Herein, an electrochemiluminescence (ECL) sensor with high sensitivity for the detection of methyl parathion (MP) was constructed by combining of the acetylcholinesterase (AChE) enzyme-inhibited reaction with tris-2,2'-bipyridyl ruthenium Ru(bpy) -triethylamine (TEA) system for the first time. A new ECL probe of MIL-100 loaded with Ru(bpy) (Ru-MIL-100) was synthesized, and then Ru-MIL-100 and AChE were immobilized on the electrode with Nafion.

Photoresponsive drug delivery systems have great potential for improved cancer therapy. However, most of the currently available drug-delivery nanosystems are relatively large and require light excitation with low tissue penetration. Here, we designed a near infrared responsive drug delivery system by loading [Ru(terpyridine)(dipyridophenazine)(HO)] (Ru(tpy)DPPZ) in azobenzene-modified mesoporous silica coated NaGdF:Nd/Yb/Tm upconversion nanoparticles (azo-mSiO-UCNPs).

New tetrakis Eu and Gd β-diketonate complexes containing benzimidazolium (Bzim) as the counterion were synthesized by the one-pot method. The Bzim[Eu(tta)]·HO complex was further incorporated into a poly(methyl methacrylate) matrix (PMMA) at 1, 5, and 10% (w/w), which revealed highly desirable photonic features. The Eu and Gd complexes were characterized by elemental and thermal analyses, in addition to ESI-MS spectrometry, FTIR, and Raman spectroscopy.

By employing a bottom-up approach, we demonstrate the formation of blue-emitting CuNCs facilitated by CPC and hydrazine, where hydrazine acts both as a reducing and stabilizing agent. The optical properties of the CuNCs were systematically tuned by varying the chain length of the diamine, resulting in emissions ranging from blue to yellow.
