Preliminary studies have shown that genistein modulates the expression of some heat shock proteins in mammary tumor cells. In this study, we investigated the effect of genistein pretreatment on the expression of glucose-regulated protein 78 (GRP78) in both estrogen receptor-positive (MCF-7) and -negative (MDA-MB-231) cells. Genistein increased the expression of GRP78 in a dose- and time-dependent manner and suppressed glucose uptake in both cell lines. However, induction of GRP78 by genistein appears not to be directly associated with inhibition of glucose uptake. Genistein treatment also made MDA-MB-231 cells more sensitive to doxorubicin, probably via increased GRP78 expression, but had no effect or even decreased drug sensitivity in MCF-7 cells. These results suggest that genistein may be exploited as an enhancer of chemotherapeutic agents in certain types of breast cancer.

Objectives: Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH) is a significant risk factor for cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma, for which there is currently no effective treatment. This study aimed to investigate the regulatory mechanism between endoplasmic reticulum stress (ER stress) and pyroptosis in the liver under the context of MASH.
Methods And Results: Pyroptosis was examined in both in vivo and in vitro ER stress models.

Background: Obesity is a risk factor for developing cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) by impairing normal vascular function. Natural products are gaining momentum in the clinical setting due to their high efficacy and low toxicity. extract (CFE) has been shown to control appetite and promote weight loss; however, its effect on vascular function remains poorly understood.

: Endothelial hyperpermeability is the hallmark of severe disease, including sepsis and acute respiratory syndrome (ARDS). The development of medical countermeasures to treat the corresponding illness is of utmost importance. Synthetic somatostatin analogs (SSA) are FDA-approved drugs prescribed in patients with neuroendocrine tumors, and they act via growth hormone (GH) suppression.

Hydrogen sulfide (HS)-mediated protein S-sulfhydration has been shown to play critical roles in several diseases. Tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs) are the predominant population of immune cells present within solid tumor tissues, and they function to restrict antitumor immunity. However, no previous study has investigated the role of protein S-sulfhydration in TAM reprogramming in breast cancer (BC).
