Permethrin is popularly used in a variety of therapeutic areas. However, the poor water solubility of permethrin seriously limits its wider clinical applications. The present study demonstrates that solubility of permethrin in aqueous solution can considerably increase in the presence of beta-cyclodextrin (beta-CD). Extensive experimental data along with computational modeling reveal the formation of stable permethrin/beta-CD inclusion complexes, including permethrin(beta-CD) and permethrin(beta-CD)2, through hydrophobic binding. Both permethrin(beta-CD) and permethrin(beta-CD)2 complexes coexisted in aqueous solution, and the ratio of the concentration of permethrin(beta-CD) complex to that of permethrin(beta-CD)2 complex was dependent on the concentration of beta-CD. The complexation of permethrin with beta-CD significantly improved the bioavailability of permethrin and, therefore, increased the bioactivity. The significant increase of the bioactivity of permethrin in the presence of beta-CD provides an effective approach to improve the practical use of permethrin in public health and agriculture.

In line with the "healthy aging" principle, we aim to assess the exposure map and health risks of environmental chemicals in the elderly. Blood samples from 918 elderly individuals in Wuhan, China, were analyzed using the combined gas/liquid-mass spectrometry technology to detect levels of 118 environmental chemicals. Cluster analysis identified exposure profiles, while risk indexes and bioanalytical equivalence percentages were calculated using EPA's ToxCast database.

Pyrethroid and neonicotinoid pesticides control an array of insect pests in leafy greens, but there are concerns about the off-site movement and potential water quality impacts of these chemicals. Effective on-farm management practices can eliminate aquatic toxicity and pesticides in runoff. This project evaluated an integrated vegetated treatment system (VTS), including the use of polyacrylamide (PAM), for minimizing the toxicity of imidacloprid and permethrin pesticides in runoff.

The occurrence of pesticidal pollution in the environment and the resistance in the mosquito species makes an urge for the safer and an effective pesticide. Permethrin, a poorly water-soluble pyrethroid pesticide, was formulated into a hydrodispersible nanopowder through rapid solvent evaporation of pesticide-loaded oil in water microemulsion. Stability studies confirmed that the nanopermethrin dispersion was stable in paddy field water for 5 days with the mean particle sizes of 175.

This paper presents data on the general properties and complexing ability of cyclodextrins and assessment methods (phase solubility, DSC tests and X-ray diffraction, FTIR spectra, analytical method). It focuses on the formation of drug deposits on the surface of a textile underlayer, using a cyclodextrin compound favoring the inclusion of a drug/active principle and its release onto the dermis of patients suffering from skin disorders, or for protection against insects. Moreover, it presents the kinetics, duration, diffusion flow and release media of the cyclodextrin drug for in vitro studies, as well as the release modeling of the active principle.
