1-Methyl-4-phenylpyridinium ion (MPP+), an inhibitor of mitochondrial complex I, has been widely used as a neurotoxin because it elicits a severe Parkinson's disease-like syndrome characterized by elevation of intracellular reactive oxygen species level and apoptotic death. Adiponectin, secreted from adipose tissue, mediates systemic insulin sensitivity with liver and muscle as target organs. Adiponectin can also suppress superoxide generation in endothelial cells. In the present study, we investigated the protective effects of adiponectin on MPP+-induced cytotoxicity in human neuroblastoma SH-SY5Y cells, as well as the underlying mechanism. Our results suggest that the protective effects of adiponectin on MPP+-induced apoptosis may be ascribed to its anti-oxidative properties, anti-apoptotic activity via inducing expression of SOD and catalase, and regulation of Bcl-2 and Bax expression. These data indicated that adiponectin might provide a useful therapeutic strategy for the treatment of progressive neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson's disease.

CBA-1205 is a novel humanized antibody targeting delta-like 1 homolog (DLK1) that enhances antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity activity. DLK1 overexpression has been reported in various cancer types, such as hepatocellular carcinoma and neuroblastoma. CBA-1205 demonstrates potent antitumor activity in multiple tumor models, making it a potential treatment option for DLK1-expressing cancers.

Glioblastoma is the most aggressive brain cancer in humans with very poor prognosis and high mortality rate. Despite advances in treatment, glioblastoma almost always recurs and new therapeutic methods are urgently needed. This study aimed at assessing the cytotoxic and antiproliferative effects of AM 1172 and cannabidiol (two cannabinoid receptor ligands) in vitro, when used alone and in combination with cisplatin (a standard cytotoxic drug), in various human neuroblastoma (CHP-134, KELLY), human glioblastoma (U-87MG and T98G) and rat glioblastoma (C6) cell lines.

Background: Neuroblastoma often begins in infancy and one of the most common types of cancer among children is someone. Napabucasin (NP) (BBI608), a natural naphthoquinone emerging as a novel inhibitor of STAT3, has been found to effectively kill cancer stem-like tumor cells. On the other hand, the effect of Napabucasin on SH-SY5Y cells is currently unclear.

Famotidine is an H2 receptor antagonist and is currently used on a large scale in gastroenterology. However, Famotidine may also cause severe toxicity to organ systems, including the blood system, digestive system, and urinary system. The objective of this study was to scientifically and systematically investigate the adverse events (AEs) of Famotidine in the real world through the FDA Adverse Event Reporting System (FAERS) database.

Induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) technology is revolutionizing cell biology. However, the variability between individual iPSC lines and the lack of efficient technology to comprehensively characterize iPSC-derived cell types hinder its adoption in routine preclinical screening settings. To facilitate the validation of iPSC-derived cell culture composition, we have implemented an imaging assay based on cell painting and convolutional neural networks to recognize cell types in dense and mixed cultures with high fidelity.
