Nuts are recommended for cardiovascular health, yet concerns remain that nuts may contribute to weight gain due to their high energy density. A systematic review and meta-analysis of prospective cohorts and randomized controlled trials (RCTs) was conducted to update the evidence, provide a dose-response analysis, and assess differences in nut type, comparator and more in subgroup analyses. MEDLINE, EMBASE, and Cochrane were searched, along with manual searches.

Surgeons care deeply about their patients, their patient's surgical outcomes, and their fund of knowledge as it relates to disease, treatment options, and risk is remarkable. Unfortunately, surgical patients' values, hopes, fears, and unacceptable levels of suffering are rarely elicited and addressed while constructing surgical treatment plans, even when the stakes are high. How can surgeons bring all their experience, education, and expertise to bear in a patient-centered manner amidst uncertainty? Surgeons typically emulate mentors who either employed a solely informative, facilitative, or directive/paternalistic approach to decision-making.

Despite the high level of safety associated with these surgeries, surgical intervention is often associated with post-operative complications, some of which have been directly related to the soft tissue biomechanics and the response to compression and loading forces exerted by the weight of the implant, and not necessarily its volume. Here we discuss the issue of weight, based upon the fundamental laws of physics, and present a solution with the development of a novel breast implant technology.

Background: In recent years, it has become increasingly prevalent internationally to record and archive digital recordings of endoscopic procedures. This emerging documentation tool raises weighty educational, ethical and legal issues - which are viewed as both deterrents and incentives to its adoption. We conducted a survey study aimed at evaluating the use of DRD in endoscopic procedures, to examine physicians' support of this practice and to map the considerations weighed by physicians when deciding whether or not to support a more extensive use of DRD.
