Massive osteolytic bone loss in revision total knee arthroplasty has been an uncommon challenge. From 2001 to 2002, 11 knees in 10 patients underwent revision of failed modular PFC (Johnson and Johnson Orthopaedics, Raynham, Mass) total knee arthroplasties with distal femoral allografts and long-stemmed revision implants for massive osteolytic induced femoral bone loss. The mean follow-up was 42 months (range, 36-48 months). Radiographic graft incorporation was demonstrated in all 11 knees with no cases of loosening. The Knee Society Pain Scores improved by an average of 25.4 points, and the function scores improved by an average of 23.3 points. The outcomes of distal femoral allografts in the reconstruction of massive osteolytic bone loss associated with failed modular PFC (Johnson and Johnson Orthopaedics) total knee arthroplasties are favorable.

Purpose: This study aims to compare the clinical outcomes of intercalary frozen autograft and allograft reconstruction for primary malignant bone tumors.
Methods: A retrospective study was conducted on 144 patients who underwent intercalary biological reconstruction for primary malignant bone tumors at a single institution between January 2012 and July 2023. Seventy-two patients underwent intercalary liquid nitrogen-frozen autograft reconstruction, and 72 patients underwent intercalary allograft reconstruction in this study.

Meningiomas originating within the bones of the skull are rare and have been reported as primary intraosseous meningiomas (PIOM). Moreover, PIOMs with a skull base location or malignant pathology are predisposed to recurrence; however, recurrence is quite rare among PIOMs characterized by a convexity location and benign pathology. Here, we present a case of extensive recurrence of a convex intraosseous meningioma with benign pathology.

Numerous interference screws of different compositions exist including titanium screws, bioabsorbable screws, and polyetheretherketone (PEEK) screws. PEEK-based implants are frequently used in orthopaedic surgery due to their biocompatibility, similar elastic modulus to cortical bone, and purported negligible risk of osteolysis compared with bioabsorbable screws. In this case report, we present the case of a 48-year-old healthy female who experienced a massive osteolytic reaction in the talus and fibula after 11 weeks following implantation of PEEK-based interference screws during lateral ankle ligament reconstruction.
