Subcutaneous emphysema is the accumulation of gas or air in loose subcutaneous connective tissue. The use of air-driven handpieces in dental procedures is a common iatrogenic cause of intraoral mucogingival barrier disruption by high-pressure air. This case report describes a 60-year-old woman who underwent prophylactic periodontal treatment with an air-abrasive device and subsequently developed severe bilateral subcutaneous emphysema, extending from the temporal region to the thoracic and mediastinal spaces.

Sclerosing adenosis (SA) is a subtype of adenosis characterized by proliferative adenosis and stromal sclerosis with distortion of the terminal ductal lobular unit. Although SA is the most prevalent benign breast condition among middle-aged women, it may be associated with a two-fold increase in breast cancer risk. Microscopic findings of ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) in a SA (SA-DCIS) may mimic microinvasive carcinoma or even invasive carcinoma, which may result in overtreatment by a breast surgeon.

Objective: In 2006, the Korean Neurotraumatology Society (KNTS) established the 1st Korean Neurotrauma Data Bank Committee (KNTDBC) and developed the Korean Neurotrauma Data Bank System (KNTDBS). Full-scale registration of traumatic brain injury (TBI) patient data began in September 2010. Since then, KNTS has conducted two trauma-related data registration projects and is now in its 5th term of the KNTDBC.
