The control of the sequential self-assembly processes of highly entangled (AgL) (n=2,4,6,8) and AgL coordination polyhedra using side-chain effects was studied via the introduction of linear or branched side chains into the tripodal ligands. In addition to changes in the intermediate polyhedral species affording the multi- pathway process, disruption of the kinetic control of the sequential self-assembly was observed, thus demonstrating the utility of steric control for the construction of 3D-entangled molecular materials on the 5 nm scale with high molecular complexity.

Endowing biomimetic sequence-controlled polymers with chiral functionality to construct stimuli-responsive chiral materials offers a promising approach for innovative chiroptical switch, but it remains challenging. Herein, it is reported that the self-assembly of sequence-defined chiral amphiphilic alternating azopeptoids to generate photo-responsive and ultrathin bilayer peptoidosomes with a vesicular thickness of ≈1.50 nm and a diameter of around ≈290 nm.

Background: Developing carrier-free nanomedicines via self-assembly of two antitumor drug molecules is a potential strategy for enhancing the combination treatment of tumors. Similarly, conventional chemotherapy combined with photodynamic therapy may synergistically improve the antitumor effect while minimizing the adverse reactions associated with antitumor treatment. Hyaluronic acid (HA) can bind to overexpressed HA receptors on the tumor cell surface, increasing cell internalization and resulting in good tumor-targeting properties.
