Hepatic arterial infusion chemotherapy with levofolinate (l-leucovorin) and fluorouracil regimen was performed using an implanted port system on unresectable hepatic metastasis patients with colorectal cancer. A comparative study was performed on two groups in which the levofolinate was administered arterially or intravenously. Levofolinate 200-250 mg/m(2) was infused for two hours intra-arterially or intravenously, and 5-FU 400-600 mg/m(2) was administered as a bolus in midinfusion. The regimen was repeated weekly for six weeks, followed by no medication for two weeks. Six patients were administered intra-arterially and 7 patients intravenously. The response rate was higher in the group in which levofolinate was given intravenously. The adverse effect was lower in the former than in the latter group. When 5-FU and levofolinate was performed using an implanted port system, it seemed better to administer levofolinate intravenously.

Introduction: The duodeno-pancreatic region is a highly vascularized area. The superior and posterior pancreaticoduodenal artery is a vessel primarily originating from the gastroduodenal artery. It exhibits rare anatomical variations, such as its emergence from the right branch of the hepatic artery, which we fortuitously identified during a cadaver dissection.

Fibrolamellar hepatocellular carcinoma (FL-HCC) is a primary liver tumour presenting at a young age. Aggressive surgery of FL-HCC is the mainstay of management unlike other malignancies where metastatic stage precludes curative surgery. There are limited reports of response of FL-HCC to systemic therapies predominantly owing to its rarity.

Background: To investigate the physiological clearance of circulating Aβ by the liver and its role in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease (AD).
Method: Immunostaining, near-infrared imaging, and flow cytometry were used to explore the physiological clearance of Aβ by the liver and the impact of aging on Aβ clearance. Liver-specific LRP-1 knockdown and functional LRP-1 minigene (mLRP-1) expression in mice with AD were used to explore the effects of hepatic Aβ clearance on AD pathogenesis and treatment.

Background: Pyroptosis is closely associated with chemotherapeutic drugs and immune response. Here, we investigated whether oxaliplatin, a key drug in FOLFOX-hepatic artery infusion chemotherapy (FOLFOX-HAIC), induces pyroptosis in hepatoma cells and enhances antitumor immunity after tumor cell death.
Methods: Hepatoma cells were treated with oxaliplatin.

Objectives: We aimed to study sarcopenia for its significance in predicting the effect of hepatic artery intervention (HAI) plus lenvatinib on hepatitis B-related hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) complicated with diabetes mellitus (DM).
Materials And Methods: Hepatitis B-related HCC patients complicated with DM (n = 102) visiting during January 2021 and December 2023 were retrospectively selected. Computed tomography was performed to detect the third lumbar vertebra for its muscle cross-sectional area.
