Schwannoma of the thyroid bed is extremely rare, but is known to simulate a thyroid nodule. A retrospective review is reported of a 64-year-old female patient with a thyroid nodule who had been submitted to pre-operative fine-needle aspiration biopsy, judged inadequate, following which total thyroidectomy was performed. On histological examination, the nodule (in the thyroid bed) was found to be a schwannoma. This case report stresses the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration. Better co-operation between surgeon, pathologist and radiologist may have led to correct pre-operative diagnosis with sparing of at least half the thyroid.

The interrelationship of thyroid volume and function with features of cardiovascular dysfunction has already been investigated but some aspects remain unclear, especially in terms of subclinical cardiovascular dysfunction in euthyroid patients. Intima-media thickness (IMT) measurement in ultrasound B-mode imaging in different vascular beds (most frequently within the common carotid artery) is one of the most important tools for the detection of subclinical atherosclerosis in both clinical practice and research. This article aimed to present the results of our research on the association between the thyroid evaluation parameters and the IMT measured in both the carotid and femoral arteries in euthyroid patients aged 18 to 65 years taking into account the influence of diabetes, hypertension, and excess body mass.

Aim: This study aims to investigate the impact of fast-track surgery (FTS), based on nutritional support, on postoperative rehabilitation and nutritional status in patients undergoing radical thyroidectomy and lateral lymphadenectomy.
Methods: This retrospective study included 112 patients who underwent radical thyroid cancer surgery and lateral neck lymph node dissection at Union Hospital, Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, between April 2021 and April 2023. Based on various nursing methods, patients were divided into two groups, with 58 patients included in the observation group (FTS care based on nutritional support), and 54 patients in the control group (routine perioperative care).

Introduction: The use of Hormone Dosage (HD) in Fine Needle Aspiration Biopsy (FNA) needle washout fluid, introduced in the 1990s, initially aimed at measuring Thyroglobulin (TG). Elevated TG concentration in an extrathyroidal cervical lesion suggests metastases of Well-Differentiated Thyroid Carcinomas (WDTC). Over the years, HD has evolved to incorporate Calcitonin (CT) and Parathormone (PTH), improving sensitivity and specificity in diverse clinical scenarios.
