A 35-year-old man had undergone retroperitoneoscopic radical nephrouretectomy in May 2002 (pTisNxM0). He later developed carcinoma in situ (CIS) of the bladder, and underwent intravesical instillation of 80 mg of Bacillus-Calmette-Guerin (BCG) once a week for 6 weeks in January 2004. After the treatment, irritative symptoms (frequency and dysuria) developed, and he was diagnosed with bladder contracture. Conventional treatment with anti-cholinergics, analgesics, anti-tuberculous drugs, and steroids was ineffecsive, but hydrodistention improved the subjective symptoms. Hydrodistention seems to be useful for bladder contracture following intravesical BCG immunotherapy.

Objective: This study was to explore the risk factors for postoperative bladder neck contracture (BNC) after transurethral operation of prostate in patients with small-volume prostatic obstruction.
Methods: Clinicopathologic data at our center from February 2016 to January 2020 were retrospectively collected and analyzed. Clinicopathological characteristics between patients with and without BNC were compared.

Hem-o-lok clips are widely used in robotic-assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP). However, clips-related complications have been reported, including intravesical migration. Here, we share a 60-year-old male case with newly diagnosed prostatic adenocarcinoma.

Intravesical bacillus Calmette-Guerin (BCG) instillation is an effective treatment for nonmuscle invasive superficial bladder cancer. BCG induces a massive influx of inflammatory cells and production of cytokines in the bladder mucosa and lumen that leads to an immune response against tumor cells, acting as an immunotherapy. Cystitis, bladder ulceration, and bladder contracture are known local genitourinary complications, whereas systemic complications such as miliary pulmonary tuberculosis, mycotic aneurysms, tuberculous spondylodiscitis, and granulomatous hepatitis are very rare.

Various adverse reactions may occur after intravesical bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG) therapy. Although the virulence of attenuated BCG is low, serious complications such as bacterial cystitis, bladder contractures, granulomatous prostatitis, epididymitis, orchitis, and systemic reactions such as fever and malaise have been described. Disseminated granulomatosis such as hepatitis and pneumonitis have also been described, but are rare.
