Background: Bile acid diarrhoea is a common but overlooked cause of chronic watery diarrhoea. Plasma 7α-hydroxy-4-cholesten-3-one (C4) is an alternative to the gold standard tauroselcholic [Se] acid (SeHCAT) test. Low-certainty evidence supports sequestrant treatment, including colesevelam.

The 25th United European Gastroenterology Week (UEGW), the largest European conference centered on diseases of the stomach, bowel, esophagus, liver, pancreas and gallbladder, was held in Barcelona, Spain. This 5-day meeting attracted over 13,000 delegates to share recent research in the treatment of gastrointestinal and liver diseases.
