Background: In the year 2000, the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology initiated a campaign, called "Euromelanoma Day," for the early detection of melanoma.
Objective: To discuss the results of "Euromelanoma Day" in Spain for the campaigns carried out in 2000, 2001 and 2002.
Material And Methods: Participating members of the Spanish Academy of Dermatology examined everyone who requested an appointment, free of charge, in order to detect suspicious lesions. Four months after the visit, telephone contact was made with all patients who had been diagnosed with suspected melanoma to ask them whether the lesions had been excised, and if so, the result of the histological study of the specimen.
Results: 33,750 calls to set up an appointment were received, and 12,487 patients were examined. The average participation by dermatologists was 399 academy members per year. A total of 164 lesions suspected of being melanoma were detected, above all in Andalusia and Catalonia, and the diagnosis was histologically confirmed in 31 cases. The clinicopathological correlation was 23.3 %, a higher figure than the one for the USA and similar to the one for Mediterranean countries. The average thickness of the tumors was 0.93 mm.
Conclusions: Although these campaigns have the drawback of possible bias in the findings and may cause some degree of public alarm, the benefit to the population was unquestionable in terms of heightening awareness of a health problem.

Background: Proctocolectomy with ileal pouch-anal anastomosis is the treatment of choice for patients with ulcerative colitis with medical refractory disease or dysplasia. The aim of this research was to describe the evolution of ileal pouch-anal anastomosis surgery and surgical outcomes over a three-decade interval in a high-volume referral centre.
Methods: All consecutive patients undergoing ileal pouch-anal anastomosis for ulcerative colitis between 1990 and 2022 at the University Hospitals of Leuven were retrospectively included.
Background: One-carbon metabolism (OCM), a biochemical pathway dependent on micronutrients including folate and vitamin B12, plays an essential role in aging-related physiological processes. DNA methylation-based aging biomarkers may be influenced by OCM.
Objective: This study investigated associations of OCM-related biomarkers with epigenetic aging biomarkers in the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES).

Camera traps are widely used in wildlife research and monitoring, so it is imperative to understand their strengths, limitations, and potential for increasing impact. We investigated a decade of use of wildlife cameras (2012-2022) with a case study on Australian terrestrial vertebrates using a multifaceted approach. We (i) synthesised information from a literature review; (ii) conducted an online questionnaire of 132 professionals; (iii) hosted an in-person workshop of 28 leading experts representing academia, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), and government; and (iv) mapped camera trap usage based on all sources.

Stock estimates of the US unauthorized foreign-born population are routinely published, but less is known about this population's dynamics. Using a series of residual estimates based on 2000 Census and 2001-2022 American Community Survey (ACS), I estimate the components of change for the unauthorized immigrant population from 2000 to 2022 by region and country of origin. Further, I develop and present novel measures of expected duration in unauthorized status and demographic impact of unauthorized entries (i.
