Article Abstract

Two novel hydrated borates were synthesized under mild solvothermal conditions. One is hydrated rubidium borate, Rb2B7O9(OH)5, which contains the first example of the isolated chain heptaborate anion, [B7O9(OH)5]2-. The other is hydrated diethylenetriamine borate, [(C4H15N3)]2[B14O20(OH)6], which contains the first example of the largest isolated ring tetradecaborate anion, [B14O20(OH)6]4-.

Kinetic Control of Self-Assembly Pathway in Dual Dynamic Covalent Polymeric Systems.

Angew Chem Int Ed Engl

East China University of Science and Technology, School of Chemistry and Molecular Engineering, Meilong Road 130, 200237, Shanghai, CHINA.

Kinetically controlled self-assembly is garnering increasing interest in the field of supramolecular polymers and materials, yet examples involving dynamic covalent exchange remain relatively unexplored. Here we report an unexpected dynamic covalent polymeric system whose aqueous self-assembly pathway is strongly influenced by the kinetics of evaporation of water. The key design is to integrate dual dynamic covalent bonds-including disulfide bonds and boroxine/borate-into a dynamic equilibrium system of monomers, polymers, and materials.

Rational design of a series of non-centrosymmetric antiperovskite and double antiperovskite borate fluorides.

Non-centrosymmetric (NCS) compounds can exhibit many symmetry-dependent functional properties, yet their rational structure design remains a great challenge. Herein, a strategy to introduce F-centered octahedra to construct a perovskite-type framework filled by π-conjugated [BO] dimers is proposed to obtain NCS compounds. The first examples of antiperovskite or double antiperovskite borate fluorides, [(M/Ba)Ca]F[BO] (M = K, Rb) and [CsBaCa]F[BO], have been successfully designed and synthesized.

A Straightforward Synthetic Route to Monocyclic 1,3,2,4-Diazadiborinines.

Inorg Chem

January 2025

School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Southeast University, Nanjing 211189, P. R. China.

A novel straightforward synthetic route to monocyclic 1,3,2,4-diazadiborinines has been developed by the sequential reaction of the NHC-coordinated iminoborane with bases and haloboranes (or borate). The first examples of monocyclic 1,3,2,4-diazadiborinines featuring different functional groups on the two B atoms have been synthesized and structurally characterized. Further derivatization of 4-bromophenyl-substituted 1,3,2,4-diazadiborinine has also been achieved, giving the biphenyl-substituted 1,3,2,4-diazadiborinine.

From β-KBOF to α-KBOF: Phase Transition-Directed Great Changes in Structure and Optical Anisotropy.

Herein, a new fluorooxoborate α-KBOF is synthesized successfully in a closed system. It crystallizes in the 2/ space group and features the rare one-dimensional (1D) zigzag [BOF] chains built by fundamental building blocks (FBBs) [BOF]. To the best of our knowledge, KBOF is a unique example of inorganic anhydrous borate whose two polymorphs show 1D B-O/F chains constructed by different FBBs but the same symmetry operation.

Article Synopsis
  • Treatment of [Cp*TiCl] with [LiBH ⋅ THF] and subsequent heating with [PhE] (E=S or Se) leads to the creation of new diborane(6) complexes, which are the first known examples of their kind.
  • These complexes are stabilized by four bridging ligands, including two that donate electrons to the titanium center, enhancing stability.
  • When these diborane(6) complexes react with metal carbonyls [M(CO) ⋅ THF] (where M = Mo or W), it breaks the B-B bond, producing new complexes that include teflon analogs, which are less stable and not easily isolated.
