Objective: To comparatively evaluate the amount of apically extruded debris when ProTaper, ProFile, and HERO Shaper were used for the instrumentation of root canals.

Study Design: Sixty human mandibular central incisor teeth were randomly assigned to 3 groups, 20 teeth in each. The teeth in the 3 groups were instrumented according to the manufacturers' instructions until the working length, with ProTaper, ProFile, and HERO Shaper rotary instruments respectively. The debris produced was collected in polyethylene tubes. The liquid inside the tubes was removed by lyophilization and the remaining debris was calculated for each group and compared.

Results: All instruments tested produced a measurable amount of debris. No statistically significant difference was observed between ProTaper and HERO Shaper in terms of debris extrusion (P > .05). Similarly, no statistically significant difference was observed between ProFile and HERO Shaper even though HERO Shaper extruded a relatively higher amount of debris (P > .05). On the other hand, ProTaper extruded significantly more amount of debris compared to ProFile (P < .001).

Conclusions: ProTaper caused a significantly higher amount of debris extrusion compared to ProFile. No statistically significant difference was observed among the other groups tested. As the quantity of debris extrusion is not the only factor responsible for acute exacerbations, future studies can be planned that focus on the types of bacteria causing flare-ups and methods for their elimination.

Objectives: To evaluate and compare the efficacy of XP-endo Finisher R (FKG Dentaire, Le Locle, Neuchatel, Switzerland), EDDY (VDW Dental, Munich, Germany), and passive ultrasonic irrigation (PUI) as supplementary steps following the D-RaCe retreatment file system (FKG Dentaire) in the removal of root canal obturation material using cone beam CT.

Materials And Methods: A total of 45 two-rooted permanent maxillary first premolars were selected. Following access preparation, cleaning, and shaping with Hero Shaper (Micro Mega, Besançon, BFC, France) rotary file up to 25/04%, thermoplasticized obturation was performed with TotalFill BC sealer (FKG Dentaire) and gutta-percha.

Aim The aim of the study was to assess the instrument deformation following the usage of the TruNatomy (Dentsply Sirona, USA) file system in extracted premolars using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). Materials and Methods For the present study, 84 extracted mandibular bicuspids were selected. The teeth were divided into two groups: Group 1, TruNatomy (n=42), and Group 2, Hero Shaper (Micro Mega, France) (n=42).

Purpose: Apically extruded debris, canal transportation and shaping ability were compared between contracted endodontic cavities (CECs) and traditional endodontic cavities (TECs) after instrumentation with XP-endo Shaper (XPS), ProTaper Gold (PTG), ProTaper for hand-use (HPT) and Hero Shaper.

Methods: The CECs or TECs groups were sub-divided into 24 groups according to root canal morphology and nickel-titanium (Ni-Ti) instruments. The weight of apically extruded debris was calculated using the Myers and Montgomery model.

Background: The aim of this study was to evaluate the rate of apical microleakage following the fracture of five types of nickel-titanium rotary file systems (ProTaper Universal, Mtwo, RaCe, Revo-s, HeroShaper) in the apical one-third of the canal.

Materials And Methods: In this laboratory experiment, 49 mandibular premolars were collected and randomly divided into seven groups. Root canal treatment was performed by five different rotary file systems with different cross-sections.

Background: Shaping ability of a file plays an important role during instrumentation in an endodontic treatment. This study aimed to compare the shaping ability of OneShape (OS), Hero Shaper (HS), and Revo-S (RS) instruments in simulated L-shaped canals.

Methods: Forty-eight simulated L-shaped canals were prepared to an apical size of 25 using OS, HS, and RS (all from Micro-Mega SA, Besançon, France), (n = 16 canals/group) systems.
