Kielcorins are xanthonolignoids with protein kinase C inhibition and antitumor activities. Four racemates were enantioresolved at a multimilligram scale on tris-3,5-dimethylphenylcarbamate amylose phase using polar organic conditions as mobile phase. The low-solubility of these compounds conditioned the injection amount and consequently the productivity. A solid-phase injection system was developed to increase the production rate of the semipreparative process. The effects of the racemates and the related enantiomers on the in vitro growth of human breast cancer cell line MCF-7 were compared. Differences in their growth inhibitory activity were observed.

As three-dimensional (3D) printing has emerged as a new manufacturing technology, the demand for high-performance 3D printable materials has increased to ensure broad applicability in various load-bearing structures. In particular, the thixotropic properties of materials, which allow them to flow under applied external forces but resist flowing otherwise, have been reported to enable rapid and high-resolution printing owing to their self-standing and easily processable characteristics. In this context, graphene nanosheets exhibit unique π-π stacking interactions between neighboring sheets, likely imparting self-standing capability to low-viscosity inks.

Background: Early detection of sphingolipidoses is crucial to prevent irreversible complications and improve patient outcomes. The use of urine samples dried on filter paper (DUS) is a non-invasive strategy that simplifies the collection, storage, and shipping of samples compared to using liquid urine specimens.
Objectives: (1) Develop and validate a multiplex ultra-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS/MS) methodology using DUS to quantify twenty-one lysosphingolipids normalized to creatinine for eight different sphingolipidoses.

Dried urine spots have recently been proposed as an alternative matrix in the anti-doping field. Drying urine may open the opportunity to limit microbial and thermal degradation of the prohibited substances during transportation to the anti-doping laboratories without the need for refrigeration or freezing. In this study, a multi-targeted initial testing procedure was developed for the determination of 237 prohibited drugs/metabolites from 11 different classes in dried urine spots.

Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in the environment is a growing concern leading to a focus on PFAS occurrence in biosolids, a byproduct of wastewater treatment processes, often applied to improve soil health. This led to the need for analytical method development for assessing PFAS in biosolids. This study compares three methods for PFAS quantitation, evaluating solvent extraction, clean-up techniques, and final injection solvents.
