Primary lymphoma of the spleen.

Int Surg

VAMC, Des Moines, Iowa 50310.

Published: September 1992

Primary lymphoma of the spleen is a relatively rare clinical entity. The majority of patients reported with this entity not only have splenic involvement but also have had lymph node and/or liver involvement. The patient reported presented with splenomegaly and was otherwise asymptomatic. Only splenic involvement was noted at operation and no other manifestation of the disease has become apparent, some 24 months post-splenectomy.

Background: Anti-CD19 CAR T-cells have revolutionized outcomes in relapsed/refractory large B-cell lymphomas. Long-term follow-up underscored the role of hematological toxicity in non-relapse mortality, largely driven by infections, leading to the development of the CAR-HEMATOTOX (HT) score for predicting neutropenia. The European scientific community (EHA/EBMT) later reached a consensus, defining a new entity: immune effector cell-associated hematotoxicity (ICAHT).

Unlabelled: X-linked Lymphoproliferative Syndromes (XLP), which arise from mutations in the or genes, are characterized by the inability to control Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV) infection. While primary EBV infection triggers severe diseases in each, lymphomas occur at high rates with XLP-1 but not with XLP-2. Why XLP-2 patients are apparently protected from EBV-driven lymphomagenesis, in contrast to all other described congenital conditions that result in heightened susceptibility to EBV, remains a key open question.

Myc hyperactivation coordinately regulates numerous metabolic processes to drive lymphomagenesis. Here, we elucidate the temporal and functional relationships between the medley of pathways, factors, and mechanisms that cooperate to control redox homeostasis in Myc-overexpressing B cell lymphomas. We find that Myc overexpression rapidly stimulates the oxidative pentose phosphate pathway (oxPPP), nucleotide synthesis, and mitochondrial respiration, which collectively steers cellular equilibrium to a more oxidative state.

Division of Dermatology, Department of Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University, Bangkok, Thailand.

Lymphomatoid papulosis (LyP) is currently categorized as a primary lymphoproliferative disorder that follows a chronic, recurrent clinical course. The diagnosis of LyP is mainly based on clinical presentation and histopathological correlation. Six subtypes of LyP have been described and recognized, each with different histological features and sometimes distinct clinical presentations.
