Ten years after right pneumonectomy for primary lung cancer, a 51 year old man developed a pulmonary artery stump thrombosis which produced microemboli in the remaining lung and, in turn, led to chronic pulmonary hypertension. This case strongly suggests that prolonged postoperative thromboembolic prophylaxis should be considered in patients undergoing right pneumonectomy.

Late presentation of an anomalous left coronary artery from the pulmonary artery (ALCAPA) syndrome is uncommon because of the low survival rates past infancy. Different operative procedures have been described, often combined with coronary bypass grafting. However, none of these approaches address the difficulty in dissecting out the aortic root and infundibulum because of collateral circulation, often dense in the elderly.

Background: Retroaortic innominate vein (RAIV) is an extremely rare anomaly of systemic venous return. The prevalence of RAIV has been estimated to be 0.02% in individuals without congenital heart disease and 0.

Background: Patient-specific, 3-dimensional printed, tissue engineered vascular grafts (3DTEVGs) are manufactured to optimize hemodynamic performance and to accommodate growth. We evaluate growth outcomes of 3DTEVGs compared with standard grafts for pulmonary artery reconstruction in porcine models.
Methods: Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) with 4-dimensional flow data was acquired in porcine models (n = 8).

Background: The objective of this study was to investigate whether lung cancer screening low-dose computed tomography (LDCT) can be used to identify features associated with increased risk of hospitalization during the subsequent year.
Methods: Patients who underwent lung cancer screening between 2015 and 2020 with at least 1-year follow-up were identified. Patient charts were examined and LDCT scans were analyzed using body segmentation software to identify characteristics potentially associated with frailty and injury.

The Norwood procedure with the right ventricle-to-pulmonary artery (RV-PA) conduit has been the standard procedure for hypoplastic left heart syndrome. However, postoperative management can be challenging related to finding the correct balance between pulmonary and systemic blood flow. One can use hemostatic clips on the RV-PA conduit to temporarily restrict pulmonary blood flow.
