Epithelia represent a major portal of entry for pathogen microorganisms and allergens and are equipped with innate and adaptive immunity for their protection. Pattern recognition receptors (PRR), including Toll-Like Receptors (TLR), recognize pathogen-associated molecular patterns (PAMP) shared by numerous microorganisms. TLR engagement is involved in innate immunity but also participates in the control of the adaptive immune response, which may be involved in the pathophysiology of allergic diseases like asthma. Experimental studies have largely demonstrated the implication of TLR in both development and control of the allergic reaction. Dendritic cells (DC), which play a key role in these processes, are a privileged target for PAMP. During the allergic reaction, TLR engagement on DC directs the polarization of the T cell response and, while TLR2 and TLR4 may favour both Th1 and Th2 responses, TLR9 induces the development of regulatory T cells.

The clinical use of cancer vaccines is hampered by the low magnitude of induced T-cell responses and the need for repetitive antigen stimulation. Here, we demonstrate that liposomal formulations with incorporated STING agonists are optimally suited to deliver peptide antigens to dendritic cells in vivo and to activate dendritic cells in secondary lymphoid organs. One week after liposomal priming, systemic administration of peptides and a costimulatory agonistic CD40 antibody enables ultrarapid expansion of T cells, resulting in massive expansion of tumor-specific T cells in the peripheral blood two weeks after priming.

Background/aim: Blastic plasmacytoid dendritic cell neoplasm (BPDCN) is a rare and highly aggressive hematologic cancer which is difficult to diagnose and has a lot of overlapping features with other diseases, particularly acute myeloid leukemia (AML). BPDCN shares several immunophenotypic markers with AML, such as CD4, CD56, CD123, and HLA-DR, stating the importance of having extending panel of specific immunohistochemical (IHC) markers.
Case Report: This report details a case of CLL who presented with worsening symptoms of recurrent infections and leukocytosis.

Breast cancer remains one of the most prevalent and deadly cancers among women worldwide, necessitating the development of more effective and comprehensive treatment strategies. In this study, we successfully synthesized mesoporous polydopamine (MPDA) with photothermal effects for the co-delivery of the chemotherapeutic drug doxorubicin (DOX) and the immune adjuvant imiquimod (R837), resulting in the development of a multifunctional nanoplatforms termed MDR. MDR displayed excellent photothermal conversion efficiency and pH-responsive drug release behavior.

Background: Atherosclerosis, a leading cause of cardiovascular disease, is characterized by intricate interactions among lipid metabolism, inflammation, and immune response. Investigating immune-related genetic factors and immune cell infiltration in atherosclerotic tissues may provide insights into potential therapeutic targets.
Methods: We analyzed transcriptomic data from atherosclerotic and normal tissues to identify differentially expressed genes (DEGs).

Myeloid cell leukemia 1 (MCL-1) is a member of the B-cell lymphoma 2 protein family and has anti-apoptotic functions. Deregulation of MCL-1 has been reported in several cancers, including lung and breast cancer. In the present study, the association of MCL-1 expression with molecular features in colorectal cancer (CRC) has been highlighted.
