We report an analysis of the value of a second high-dose melphalan autograft, performed at relapse, on a series of newly diagnosed myeloma patients entered into the high-dose program at our center. We conclude that relapse-free survival after the first autograft is a major prognostic factor in determining outcome.

Context: This study meticulously examines the criteria for assigning electron rearrangements along the intrinsic reaction coordinate (IRC) leading to bond formation and breaking processes during the pyrolytic isomerization of cubane (CUB) to 1,3,5,7-cyclooctatetraene (COT) from both thermochemical and bonding perspectives. Notably, no cusp-type function was detected in the initial thermal conversion step of CUB to bicyclo[4.2.

Objective: Professionals working with people after traumatic events can experience both secondary traumatic stress (STS) and secondary posttraumatic growth (SPTG) as a result of exposure to indirect trauma; in both cases, a key role in their development is played by ruminations about the events experienced by the client. The aim of the study was to establish the relationship between STS, ruminations, and SPTG and determine the mediating role of ruminations in the relationship between STS and SPTG in a group of police officers.
Method: The study examined 682 police officers exposed to indirect trauma.

Arboviruses currently are regarded as a major worldwide public health concern. The clinical outcomes associated with this group of viruses may vary from asymptomatic infections to severe forms of haemorrhagic fever characterised by bleeding disorders. Similar to other systemic viral infections, arboviruses can either directly or indirectly affect different parts of the body, such as the urogenital system.

The emergence of nanopores in two-dimensional (2D) nanomaterials offers an attractive solid-state platform for high-throughput and low-cost DNA sequencing. However, several challenges remain to be addressed before their wide application, including the too-fast DNA translocation speed (compared to state-of-the-art single nucleoside detection techniques) and too large noise/signal ratios due to DNA fluctuations inside the nanopores. Here, we use molecular dynamics (MD) simulations to demonstrate the feasibility of utilizing RNA-DNA interactions in modulating DNA translocations in 2D MoS nanopores.

Anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH), a biomarker secreted by Sertoli cells in the testes, has emerged as a critical indicator of male reproductive function with significant clinical application potential. AMH reflects Sertoli cell activity and plays a pivotal role across different stages of male gonadal function. Firstly, in prepubertal males, AMH levels are crucial for assessing testicular development and the progression of puberty, with delayed or insufficient AMH secretion often being associated with disorders like delayed puberty.
