Rice is highly sensitive to low temperatures, making cold stress a significant factor limiting its growth, especially during the bud bursting stage. To address this, an RIL population derived from a cross between cold-tolerant and cold-sensitive rice varieties was used to identify nine QTLs linked to cold tolerance under temperatures of 4 ℃, 5 °C, and 6 ℃ using a high-density genetic map. One candidate gene, LOC_Os07g44410, was identified through gene function annotation, haplotype analysis, and qRT-PCR, with two main haplotypes (Hap1 and Hap2) showing distinct phenotypic differences.

Background: Cholelithiasis is influenced by various factors, including genetic elements identified in genome-wide association studies (GWAS), but their biological functions are not fully understood.
Methods: Analyzing data from the Finngen database with 37,041 cholelithiasis cases and 330,903 controls, this study combined SNP data from GTEx v8 and linkage disequilibrium data from the 1000 Genomes Project. Using the TWAS FUSION protocol and SMR analysis, it investigated the relationship between gene expression and cholelithiasis, employing colocalization tests and conditional analyses to explore causality.

Background: Anxiety disorders in older adults have become a prominent public health problem due to their concomitant chronic conditions, reduced quality of life and even death. However, fewer studies have been conducted on differences in anxiety among older individuals in different aged-care models, and the interactive relationship between the influencing factors on anxiety remains unclear. The study aimed to examine the disparities in the prevalence of anxiety between community-dwelling and institutionalized older adults and related influencing factors.

White lupin (Lupinus albus L.) is an ancient grain legume that is still undergoing improvement of domestication traits, including vernalization-responsiveness, providing frost tolerance and preventing winter flowering in autumn-sowing agriculture, and vernalization-independence, conferring drought escape by rapid flowering in spring-sowing. A recent genome-wide association study highlighted several loci significantly associated with the most contrasting phenotypes, including deletions in the promoter of the FLOWERING LOCUS T homolog, LalbFTc1, and some DArT-seq/silicoDArT loci.

Little is known about how exclusive e-cigarette use affects exosomal microRNA (miRNA) expression, which is crucial in inflammation and disease processes like cancer. We compared exosomal miRNA profiles between exclusive e-cigarette users and non-users. We used plasma samples from 15 exclusive e-cigarette users and 15 non-users from the Population Assessment of Tobacco and Health (PATH) Wave 1 study (2013-2014) and sequenced miRNAs with Illumina NextSeq 500/550.
