Stress urinary incontinence (SUI) is a common problem among women, particularly after childbearing. While it is not in itself life-threatening, it inevitably impairs quality of life, causing embarrassment and even social isolation--this is often both the reason that people with SUI seek medical help and the method of measuring the success of treatment. A range of treatment and management options is available for dealing with this distressing condition.

Nephrology Department, Jiangxi Provincial Key Research Laboratory of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Key Research Laboratory of Chronic Renal Failure, Affiliated Hospital of Jiangxi University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Nanchang, Jiangxi 330006, China.

This study aimed to investigate the potential mechanisms of puerarin in alleviating diabetic nephropathy (DKD) in mice. The DKD model was induced by multiple low-dose injections of streptozotocin (STZ) and a high-sugar and high-fat diet in male C57BL/6J mice. After confirming the onset of DKD, mice were given irbesartan, distilled water, or different concentrations of puerarin (40 and 80 mg/kg/d) by gavage for 8 weeks.

Social alienation can generate negative emotions such as anxiety, depression, loneliness, and morbid stigma, and reduce patients' quality of life. However, the current status of social alienation is different among different older adult female patients with stress urinary incontinence.
