Objective: To study the operative indications of chronic otitis media and their long-term results.
Method: One hundred and forty-five cases of mastoidectomy were followed for 5 years between 1995-1998. We discussed the results of recurrence and hearing level of radical mastoidectomy, canal wall up mastoidectomy (CWUM) and canal wall down mastoidectomy with mastoid obliteration (CWDM). Advantages and disadvantages were analyzed by the rate of visiting.
Result: RM is almost invariable in hearing. There is no significant difference between CWDM [improved (10.84+/-4.63) dB HL] and CWUM [improved (10.39+/-3.93) dB HL]. The recurrence rate of RM was 11.63%, CWDM was 12.68%, but the CWUM was 22.58%. Rate of re-visiting of RM is obviously higher that of CWUM and CWDM.
Conclusion: RM, CWUM and CWDM have all advantages, but the indication must be selected carefully. The effect of CWDM is better than that of RM and CWUM for the long-term results in these cases.

Objective: Chronic otitis media (COM) is characterized by chronic, intermittent, or persistent discharge through a perforated tympanic membrane. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the postoperative audiological outcomes in middle-aged patients compared to younger patients who underwent tympanoplasty with mastoidectomy via post-auricular approach for the treatment of COM.
Methods: This prospective interventional study included patients admitted in wards from August 2017 to January 2019 at the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College and Hospital, Aligarh, India.

Objective: Eosinophilic Otitis Media (EOM) is an intractable disease caused by type 2 inflammation, such as Eosinophilic Chronic Rhinosinusitis (ECRS) and bronchial asthma. Biologics have recently been used to treat ECRS and bronchial asthma. Biologics are not indicated for EOM; however, because approximately 10% of ECRS cases has concomitant EOM, concomitant EOM improvement has been observed when dupilumab is administered for ECRS.

Objectives: The aim of this study was to investigate the risk factors that may cause postoperative otomycosis in patients undergoing Chronic Nonsuppurative Otitis Media (CNSOM) surgery.
Methods: In this retrospective study, 409 out of 523 patients met the inclusion criteria. 44 patients diagnosed with otomycosis CNSOM were analyzed.

Purpose: Chronic suppurative otitis media (CSOM) is a prominent contributor to preventable hearing loss globally. Probiotic therapy has attracted research interest in human infectious and inflammatory disease. As the most prevalent probiotic, the role of in CSOM remains poorly defined.

Canine otitis externa, characterized by the involvement of diverse bacterial species, notably Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Staphylococcus pseudintermedius, necessitates antibiotic administration as the primary therapeutic approach; however, prolonged treatment often precipitates antibiotic resistance. Therefore, the application of bacteriophages as antimicrobial agents has been of interest recently. However, phage therapy has limitations; its efficacy depends on the lytic capacity of the phage and the emergence of phage resistance, which can be overcome by using phage cocktails.
