Objective: Our study evaluated the prevalence of hypertension in a population of Brazilian firefighters and the association of elevated blood pressure (BP) with personal, occupational, and cardiovascular risk factors.
Design: This was a cross-sectional study.
Setting: Our study was based on health inspections of the Military Fire Brigade of the Espírito Santo State, Brazil, performed in 2019.

Objectives: Hypertriglyceridemia-associated acute pancreatitis (HTG-AP) is one of the most common etiologies of acute pancreatitis (AP) worldwide. Compared to other etiologies, patients with HTG-AP may develop more severe AP, but previous studies yielded controversial conclusion due to the lack of adequate adjustment for the confounders. Therefore, this study aimed to examine the possibility and risk factors of developing severe AP in HTG-AP.

Background: Medications targeting the leptin and Apolipoprotein CIII (APOC3) pathways are currently under development for the treatment of hypertriglyceridaemia. Given that both pathways are implicated in triglyceride regulation, it is unknown whether they function independently or interact under physiological conditions and under acute or long-term energy deficiency.
Methods: APOC3 levels and their association with circulating lipids and lipoproteins were evaluated in the context of two randomised controlled studies.

Purpose: To examine the efficacy and safety of pemafibrate in outpatients with hypertriglyceridemia, including alcoholic hypertriglyceridemia.
Method: This multicenter, open-label, prospective observational study (C20-07-009) included outpatients with hypertriglyceridemia being treated with pemafibrate who were registered at Fukuoka University Chikushi Hospital or associated clinics. Endpoints were changes in serum triglyceride (TG) and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), hepatic biomarkers, and other blood values from baseline to 24 weeks and safety.

Background/objectives: Hypertriglyceridaemia and systemic inflammation are prevalent in patients with schizophrenia and contribute to an increased risk of cardiovascular disease. Although elevated triglycerides (TGs) and remnant cholesterol are linked to inflammation in the general population and individuals with metabolic syndrome, whether they are associated in patients with schizophrenia remains unclear.
Methods: Fasting levels of TG, cholesterol (total cholesterol (TC), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) and remnant cholesterol)), and markers of systemic inflammation including high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hsCRP), leukocyte counts and their differentials (neutrophils, monocytes and lymphocytes) were determined in 147 patients diagnosed with schizophrenia on long-term antipsychotic regimens and compared with 56 age- and sex-matched healthy controls.
