Previous time-resolved FTIR measurements suggested the involvement of an intermediary component in the electron transfer step Q(A)- --> Q(B) in the photosynthetic reaction center (RC) from Rhodobacter sphaeroides [Remy and Gerwert (2003) Nat. Struct. Biol. 10, 637]. By a kinetic X-ray absorption experiment at the Fe K-edge we investigated whether oxidation occurs at the ferric non-heme iron located between the two quinones. In isolated reaction centers with a high content of functional Q(B), at a time resolution of 30 micros and at room temperature, no evidence for transient oxidation of Fe was obtained. However, small X-ray transients occurred, in a similar micro- to millisecond time range as in the IR experiments, which may point to changes in the Fe ligand environment due to the charges on Q(A)- and Q(B)-. In addition, VIS measurements agree with the IR data and do not exclude an intermediate in the Q(A)- --> Q(B) transition.

Integrated Circuits are made of various transistors that are embedded on a silicon wafer, these wafers are difficult to process and hence are prone to defects. Defecting these defects manually is a time consuming and labour-intensive task and hence automation is necessary. Deep Learning approach is better suited in this case as it is able to generalize defects if trained properly and can be a solution to segmentation and classification of defects automatically.

Background: It has been demonstrated that an athlete's psychological readiness contributes to one's ability to successfully return to sport (RTS) after anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction. However, the effect of graft choice on psychological readiness is not yet understood.
Purpose/hypothesis: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the association between graft choice and an athlete's psychological readiness to RTS.
Deformable image registration (DIR) is an enabling technology in many diagnostic and therapeutic tasks. Despite this, DIR algorithms have limited clinical use, largely due to a lack of benchmark datasets for quality assurance during development. To support future algorithm development, here we introduce our first-of-its-kind abdominal CT DIR benchmark dataset, comprising large numbers of highly accurate landmark pairs on matching blood vessel bifurcations.

An important step of mainstream protein structure prediction is to model the 3D protein structure based on the predicted 2D inter-residue geometric information. This folding step has been integrated into a unified neural network to allow end-to-end training in state-of-the-art methods like AlphaFold2, but is separately implemented using the Rosetta folding environment in some traditional methods like trRosetta. Despite the inferiority in prediction accuracy, the conventional approach allows for the sampling of various protein conformations compatible with the predicted geometric constraints, partially capturing the dynamic information.

Background: Patient-specific quality assurance (PSQA) is a crucial yet resource-intensive task in proton therapy, requiring special equipment, expertise and additional beam time. Machine delivery log files contain information about energy, position and monitor units (MU) of all delivered spots, allowing a reconstruction of the applied dose. This raises the prospect of phantomless, log file-based QA (LFQA) as an automated replacement of current phantom-based solutions, provided that such an approach guarantees a comparable level of safety.
