Humankind has developed and used ceramics throughout history. It currently has widespread industrial applications. Dental ceramics are used for fabricating highly esthetic prosthetic denture teeth, crowns, and inlays. However, ceramic's biocompatibility and compressive strength are offset by its hardness and brittleness. Nonetheless, a single crystal sapphire aluminum oxide endosseous implant was developed in 1972 as an alternative to metal. It was more esthetic than its metallic counterparts and was eventually produced in a variety of shapes and sizes. Clinical studies demonstrated its excellent soft and hard tissue biocompatibility, yet the range of problems included fractures during surgery, fractures after loading, mobility, infection, pain, bone loss, and lack of osseointegration. Ultimately, single crystal sapphire implants fell into irredeemable disfavor because of its poor impact strength, and dentists and surgeons eventually turned to other implant materials. However, bioactive ceramic coatings on metal implants have kept ceramics as a key component in dental implantology.

BACKGROUND Different temperature conditions can affect the efficiency of irrigation solutions and consequently the ability of canal sealers to bond to root canal walls. The aim of this endodontic study was to evaluate the effect of irrigation solutions at different temperatures on the bond strength of a bioceramic-based root canal sealer. MATERIAL AND METHODS Root canal preparations were completed through irrigation with the following solutions: Group 1 was irrigated with 5 ml NaOCl (sodium hypochlorite) +5 ml EDTA (Ethylenediamine tetra-acetic acid) (22°C); Group 2 was irrigated with 5 ml NaOCl +5 ml EDTA (37°C); Group 3 was irrigated with 5 ml NaOCl +5 ml GA (Glycolic acid) (22°C); Group 4 was irrigated with 5 ml NaOCl +5 ml GA (37°C), Group 5 was irrigated with 20 ml Dual Rinse® HEDP (Etidronate) - NaOCl mixture (22°C); and Group 6 was irrigated with 20 ml of Dual Rinse® HEDP mixture (37°C).

Objectives: To compare the clinical effectiveness of a novel bioceramic (BC) with a control xenograft (BO) for guided bone regeneration (GBR) performed simultaneously with implant placement.
Materials And Methods: This clinical study enrolled patients with insufficient bone volume who required GBR during implant placement to increase bone width using either BC or BO. Outcome measures included a dimensional reduction in buccal bone thickness measured by cone beam computed tomography performed immediately post-surgery and at 6 months postoperatively (ΔHBBT), soft tissue healing at 14 days, 1 month, and 6 months postoperatively, and complications rates.

Background: The aim of this study was to evaluate the 50%:50% perceptibility thresholds (PT) and acceptability thresholds (AT) for color differences in ceramic shade tabs observed by dentists and patients using CIEDE2000 color difference formula.
Material And Methods: Twenty-two combinations of ceramic shade tabs from the VITA 3D Master shade guide were assembled to be used for the visual comparison analyses. The color difference between each shade tab pair was numerically determined by spectrophotometry using the VITA EasyShade V, and calculated using the CIEDE2000 formula (ΔE00).

Objectives: To evaluate clinical outcomes (restoration survival, technical and biological complications), and patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) of full mouth rehabilitation with minimally invasive glass-ceramic restorations after up to 12 years of clinical service.
Materials And Methods: Twenty individuals (12 females, 8 males) received full-mouth rehabilitation with minimally invasive tooth-supported glass-ceramic restorations during the years 2009 - 2017 and agreed to participate in a follow-up visit. Full dental and periodontal examinations were completed, and the restorations were evaluated according to United States Public Health Service (USPHS) criteria.

Objectives: This study aimed to compare the marginal adaptation of a cold ceramic (CC) sealer with the single-cone obturation technique with that of an AH-26 sealer with the lateral compaction technique in single-canal teeth.
Materials And Methods: In this in vitro experimental study, the root canals of 24 extracted single-rooted single-canal teeth were instrumented to F3 files by the crown-down technique and randomly assigned to 2 groups (n = 12). The root canals were obturated with a CC sealer and single-cone obturation technique with 4% gutta-percha in group 1 and with an AH-26 sealer and lateral compaction technique with 2% gutta-percha in group 2.
