[reaction: see text] Palladium(0)-catalyzed cross-coupling between potassium aryltrifluoroborate salts and aryl tellurides proceeds readily to afford the desired biaryls in good to excellent yield. The reaction seems to be unaffected by the presence of electron-withdrawing or electron-donating substituents in both the potassium aryltrifluoroborate salts and aryl tellurides partners. Biaryls containing a variety of functional groups can be prepared. A chemoselectivity study was also carried out using aryl tellurides bearing halogen atoms in the same compound. In addition, this new version of the Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reaction was monitored by electrospray ionization mass spectrometry where some reaction intermediates were detected and analyzed.

Recent advances in reactive oxygen species (ROS)-responsive drug delivery systems for photodynamic therapy of cancer.

Reactive oxygen species (ROS)-responsive drug delivery systems (DDSs) have garnered significant attention in cancer research because of their potential for precise spatiotemporal drug release tailored to high ROS levels within tumors. Despite the challenges posed by ROS distribution heterogeneity and endogenous supply constraints, this review highlights the strategic alliance of ROS-responsive DDSs with photodynamic therapy (PDT), enabling selective drug delivery and leveraging PDT-induced ROS for enhanced therapeutic efficacy. This review delves into the biological importance of ROS in cancer progression and treatment.

Although diaryl tellurides are parent organotellurium compounds, their synthesis methods, especially for unsymmetrical ones, are limited. This may be due to the instability of diaryl tellurides and their synthesis intermediates under reaction conditions. Radical reactions are known to exhibit excellent functional group selectivity; therefore, we focused on a bimolecular homolytic substitution (S2) reaction between the aryl radical and diaryl ditelluride.

Differently substituted β-hydroxy- and β-amino dialkyl and alkyl-aryl tellurides and selenides have been prepared through ring-opening reactions of epoxides and aziridines with selenium- or tellurium-centered nucleophiles. The antioxidant properties and the cytotoxicity of such compounds have been investigated on normal human dermal fibroblasts. Most of the studied compounds exhibited a low cytotoxicity and a number of them proved to be non-toxic, not showing any effect on cell viability even at the highest concentration used (100 μM).

Aryl and heteroaryl selenides and tellurides are found to have broad applications in the diverse fields such as medicine, biology, materials science, pharmaceutical and thus their synthesis remains a challenging field for synthetic chemists in last decade. Although a large no of methodologies have been developed based on metal catalyzed C-Se/Te coupling, a large number of researches has been focused on developing metal catalyst free protocols due to their sustainability in recent times. This review covers all the recent developments in last decade on their synthesis under metal catalyst free conditions by using different sustainable techniques greener reagents and solvents, ball milling, visible light photocatalysis, microwave, ultrasound

Understanding Te NMR chemical shifts in disymmetric organo-telluride compounds from natural chemical shift analysis.

Organotellurium compounds of general formula X-Te-R display a broad range of chemical shifts that are very sensitive to the X and R substituents. In order to link the Te chemical shift of a series of perfluoroalkyl aryl tellurides to their electronic structure, the chemical shielding tensors of the Te nuclei were calculated by density functional theory (DFT) and further analyzed by a decomposition into contributions of natural localized molecular orbitals (NLMOs). The analysis indicated that the variation in Te chemical shifts in molecules 1-13 is mainly due to the magnetic coupling of the tellurium p-character lone pair with antibonding orbitals perpendicular to it {σ*(Te-X) and σ*(Te-C(Ar))} upon action of an external magnetic field.
