Purpose: To report anatomic and visual improvement after pars plana vitrectomy with gas tamponade for a lamellar macular hole with poor central visual acuity.
Design: Two interventional case reports.
Methods: Two patients with a lamellar macular hole underwent vitrectomy, internal limiting membrane peeling, and long-acting gas injection. Main outcome measures included best-corrected visual acuity, biomicroscopic appearance, and optical coherence tomography findings.
Results: Vitrectomy with gas tamponade resulted in biomicroscopic, functional, and tomographic improvement in both patients for follow-up periods of 12 months.
Conclusions: Vitrectomy with gas tamponade may be an effective method for a lamellar macular hole with poor visual acuity.

Purpose: To report a case of drusen regression following pars plana vitrectomy with internal limiting membrane peel (ILMP) in a patient with a full-thickness macular hole and dry age-related macular degeneration (AMD).
Methods: A 67-year-old gentleman presented in April 2024 with a full-thickness macular hole in OS and intermediate dry AMD OU. The patient underwent pars plana vitrectomy, ILMP, and an injection of sulfur hexafluoride gas for macular hole repair in OS.

Rhegmatogenous retinal detachment (RRD) is a severe condition that may lead to permanent vision loss if untreated. Pars plana vitrectomy (PPV) has become a preferred surgical intervention, particularly in complex cases. Objective: Retinal displacement (RD) following PPV for RRD can lead to visual distortions and can negatively impact patient quality of life.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFObjectives: This study aimed to evaluate the correlations between optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA), best corrected visual acuity (BCVA), and macular integrity assessment (MAIA) microperimetry (MP) in both a control group and patients with rhegmatogenous retinal detachment (RRD). Additionally, it assessed differences between the groups and examined whether the time from symptom onset to surgery influenced microvascular or functional changes in the RRD group.
Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted involving 47 patients who had undergone successful RRD surgery with pars plana vitrectomy (PPV) and sulfur-hexafluoride (SF6) gas injection, with or without scleral buckling (SB), and a control group of 136 healthy eyes.

The use of Bio-Electro-Magnetic-Energy-Regulation (BEMER) therapy during general anesthesia has not previously been reported in horses. This randomized, investigator-blinded, placebo-controlled trial evaluates equine cardiopulmonary function and recovery quality after BEMER therapy application for 15 min in 100 horses during general anesthesia using isoflurane for pars-plana vitrectomy surgery as treatment for recurrent uveitis. Visually identical blankets were used in the two groups (1:1 ratio), one with a functional BEMER module and the other with a placebo module.

Purpose: To illustrate a technique for the removal of subretinal gas via pars plana vitrectomy (PPV) with air-fluid exchange and simultaneous manipulation with scleral depression.
Methods: PPV to remove subretinal gas causing persistent macula-off retinal detachment was performed in one eye, and the results were evaluated in this case report. Ports were carefully placed to avoid puncturing the retina, which was significantly displaced anteriorly past the ora serrata due to the buoyancy of the subretinal gas with the patient in a supine position.
