Sarcoidosis is a systemic granulomatous disease of unknown etiology. It has diverse clinical manifestations, most frequently including pulmonary disorders. It is associated with immunological abnormalities, the intricacies of which have yet to be clearly delineated. In the immunologically susceptible individual, genetic, environmental, nutritional, and socioeconomic factors may play a governing role in its development. Sarcoidosis is a diagnosis of exclusion established by clinical manifestations, radiologic findings, and histologic evidence of noncaseating epithelioid-cell granulomas in >1 organ. We will discuss parameters that are helpful in making this diagnosis.

Purpose: Over 50% of households in the United States have at least one musician-many musicians are also breast cancer survivors. This group has not been well studied, and given the level of fine sensory-motor skill required for musicianship, we hypothesized that musicians experience unique manifestations of breast cancer treatment toxicities.
Methods: A nine-item Musical Toxicity Questionnaire (MTQ) was distributed to patients who had consented to participate in the Mayo Clinic Breast Cancer Registry.

Objective: 3p deletion syndrome is a rare monosomal disease that encompasses deletions throughout the short arm of chromosome 3. It is often in the distal region (3p25-pter), but variations in breakpoints and a complex clinical manifestation exist, with congenital heart defects being considered rare. We present the first case of hypoplastic left heart syndrome and minor dysmorphic features associated with 3p- syndrome.

Primary sclerosing cholangitis is one of the most challenging conditions in hepatology, and due to our limited understanding of its pathogenesis, no causal therapies are currently available. While it was long assumed that a minority of people with IBD also develop PSC, which is sometimes labeled an extraintestinal manifestation of IBD, the clinical phenotype, genetic and intestinal microbiota associations strongly argue for PSC-IBD being a distinct form of IBD, existing alongside ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease. In fact, the liver itself could contribute to intestinal pathology, clinically overt in 60 - 80 % of patients.

In this article, the author: refers both to the common cultural background of these two projects (including the of the modern world and the complicated dialog between rationality and imagination) and their common epistemological situation; analyses their and , and characterizes both Holmes and Freud as and . Their operandi are described as hermeneutical procedures, methodologically similar to Charles Sanders Peirce's .
