The purpose of the present study was to investigate competitive anxiety during balance beam performance in gymnasts. Competitive anxiety was assessed continuously by heart rate monitoring and by retrospective self-report of nervousness in eight female national level gymnasts during their balance beam routine during one competition and two training sessions. A significant negative correlation was found between the score of the retrospective self-report of nervousness and performance during the routine. There were no significant differences in performance score by the judges between the three test sessions. There were also no differences in the retrospective self-report of nervousness. However, heart rate was significantly higher during the competition session than during the training sessions. The potential value of the retrospective report of nervousness for the study of critical events during gymnastic performance is illustrated. The results are discussed in the light of catastrophe theory.

Background: Amidst increasing occurrences of disasters and traumatic events, there is growing concern about the declining mental health of young adults, who are facing rising societal pressures and uncertainty about their futures.
Aims: This study investigates the interplay between collective trauma, anxiety, and resilience among young adults in the Korean context. Based on survey data collected in 2023 from 323 Korean young adults aged 18 to 34 years, a multiple linear regression and independent -tests were used to examine their experiences of collective trauma, collective anxiety, and resilience, taking gender differences into account.

Objective: By comparing the differences in pre-competition state anxiety, inter-competition heart rate variability (HRV), and shooting performance of young athletes of different grades, and revealing the correlation between these variables, it provides a potential basis for improving athletes' shooting performance.
Methods: A total of 45 adolescent shooters were selected in Chongqing, China, and completed 40 effective shots at self-pace in real shooting scenes. The pre-competition state anxiety, inter-competition HRV, and shooting performance of the athletes were monitored and evaluated respectively.

Objectives: This study primarily aimed to examine the optimal amount of carbohydrates in the effects of high-isomaltulose and high-sucrose ingestion compared with low-sucrose ingestion on blood glucose levels. The secondary objective was to assess the changes in blood glucose levels that may impact golf-related performance.
Methods: This study included 29 healthy male competitive golfers playing 18 holes.

We hypothesized that consumption of a diet containing the functional ingredient from black sticky rice, which is rich in anthocyanin, over a five-day period would improve anxiety, depression, and stress perception in adult volunteers based on the benefits of this compound. In this study, a total of 46 male and female adult volunteers with mild and moderate stress level were assigned to groups consuming a breakfast meal containing an anthocyanin-enriched functional ingredient at doses of 2 and 4 g per day for 5 days. The volunteers consumed three meals with a low DII but high DAQ-S, and the total calories consumed during the study period was 2000 kcal/day.
