Objectives: The study aims to evaluate the applicability of the D2T psoriatic arthritis (PsA) definition, adapted from rheumatoid arthritis, within a single-center observational cohort of PsA patients treated with b/tsDMARDs. In addition, we aimed to establish a numerical index defining D2T-PsA based on the ratio of observed to expected failed b/tsDMARDs and to develop a predictive model identifying features associated with the D2T condition.

Methods: The study included 267 consecutive adult PsA patients receiving b/tsDMARDs, collecting demographic, clinical, and clinimetric data.

Background: Cardiac computed tomography imaging with contrast is being used increasingly to image left atrial appendage occlusion (LAAO) devices. Contrast flow across a device, also known as a transfabric leak (TFL), may indicate a lack of complete LAAO-device endothelialization. The data on the rate, predictors, and clinical events associated with TFL are limited.

Brain signaling becomes less integrated and more segregated with age.

Netw Neurosci

December 2024

Laufer Center for Physical and Quantitative Biology, Stony Brook University, Stony Brook, NY, USA.

The integration-segregation framework is a popular first step to understand brain dynamics because it simplifies brain dynamics into two states based on global versus local signaling patterns. However, there is no consensus for how to best define the two states. Here, we map integration and segregation to order and disorder states from the Ising model in physics to calculate state probabilities, and , from functional MRI data.

Background: The Bethesda System for Reporting Thyroid Cytology (TBSRTC) recommended for the interpretation of needle aspiration cytology of the thyroid, is the most widely used worldwide. Studies have shown that the disagreement between observers, especially in the Bethesda III and IV diagnostic categories, is not insignificant at 10%-40%. In the TBSRTC 2023 version, some definitions were removed and simplified, and molecular pathology was proposed as a complement to cytopathology.

Rosai-Dorfman disease (RDD) is a rare proliferative histiocytic disorder characterized by sinus histiocytosis with massive lymphadenopathy, rarely presenting with severe and life-threatening extra-nodal features. The rarity of RDD, clinically variant phenotype, limited data, and lack of a current standardized management approach make treatment decisions difficult. Herein, we present a case of life-threatening, disseminated RDD with rare clinical features of recurrent pericardial effusion, bilateral pleural effusions, and abdominal tissue fibrosis successfully treated with six cycles of cladribine, achieving clinical remission.
