This article examines how the 2019 period drama generates its affirmative project of lesbian televisual representation. turns negative realities of gender and sexuality nonconformity in the nineteenth century to productive, affirmative use through what we view as a highly effective strategy of visually engaging viewers as witnesses to and coconspirators in Lister's journey through Lister's fourth wall breaks and the camera's prioritization of her perspective. We analyze 's various overlooked characters and reinscribed power hierarchies, which we argue results from both prioritizing Lister's perspective and fans' tendencies to view Lister through "pink-tinted glasses" as a result of cathexis with Lister.

Background: Body image has implications for psychosocial functioning and quality of life and its disturbance is reported in a broad range of psychiatric disorders. In view of the lack of instruments in Dutch measuring body image as a broad concept, we set out to make an instrument available that reflects the multidimensional character of this construct by including more dimensions than physical appearance. The Dresden Körperbildfragebogen (DBIQ, Dresden Body Image Questionnaire) particularly served this purpose.

The aim of the present prospective and descriptive study was to assess the impact of facial aesthetic and reconstructive surgeries on quality of life. Ninety-one patients, of whom 43 had aesthetic surgery and 48 had reconstructive surgery, were analysed. The data were collected using the patient information form, body cathexis scale, and short form (SF)-36 quality of life scale.

This article addresses the relation of narcissism to the concept of the self. Based on the concept of the self-as-person, distinction is drawn between the self as a substantial, relatively autonomous source of agency and of both conscious and unconscious mentation and action on one hand and the self as the object of narcissistic investment on the other. The argument presumes abandonment of both the concept of narcissism as libidinal drive cathexis of the self (the most common understanding of narcissism among analysts) and the converse proposition defining the self as derived from and reflecting narcissistic origins.
