Mechanical loading plays a pivotal role in regulating bone anabolic processes. Understanding the optimal mechanical loading parameters for cellular responses is critical for advancing strategies in orthopedic bioreactor-based bone tissue engineering. This study developed a poly (sorbitol sebacate) (PSS) filmscaffold with a sorbitol-to-sebacic acid molar ratio of 1:4.

Background: Severe metaphyseal comminution and sizable bone defect of the distal femur are high risks of fixation failure. To date, no exact magnitude of comminution and bone loss is determined as an indication for augmentation of fixation construct. The present study aimed to investigate the influence of metaphyseal gap width, working length, and screw distribution on the stability of the fixation construct.

The extracellular matrix (ECM) stores signaling molecules and facilitates mechanical and biochemical signaling in cells. However, the influence of biomimetic "rejuvenation" ECM structures on aging- and degeneration-related cellular activities and tissue repair is not well understood. We combined physical extrusion and precise "on-off" alternating cross-linking methods to create anisotropic biomaterial microgels (MicroRod and MicroSphere) and explored how they regulate the cell activities of the nucleus pulposus (NP) and their potential antidegenerative effects on intervertebral discs.

Purpose Of Review: This review aims to analyze the impact of martial arts on youth, addressing the physical and psychosocial benefits, as well as the injury risks associated with increased participation.
Recent Findings: Data from the National Federation of State High School Associations indicates a notable increase in youth participation in martial arts, with a rise of over 13,000 participants from 2018 to 2022. In addition to physical benefits, recent studies highlight that martial arts can significantly enhance mindfulness, reduce stress, and improve self-control, thus diminishing bullying behaviors in school-aged children.

Spinal cord injury (SCI) impairs the central nervous system and induces the myelin-sheath-deterioration because of reactive oxygen species (ROS), further hindering the recovery of function. Herein, the simultaneously emergency treatment and dynamic luminescence severity assessment (SETLSA) strategy is designed for SCI based on cerium (Ce)-doped upconversion antioxidant nanoenzymes (Ce@UCNP-BCH). Ce@UCNP-BCH can not only efficiently eliminate the SCI localized ROS, but dynamically monitor the oxidative state in the SCI repair process using a ratiometric luminescence signal.
