Article Synopsis
  • Partial unilateral lentiginosis (PUL) is a skin pigmentation disorder that presents as multiple brown spots on one side of the face, which can be effectively treated with specific lasers like the copper bromide (CuBr) laser.
  • A 35-year-old woman with PUL showed improved skin tone and satisfaction after two sessions of CuBr laser treatment, which used dual wavelengths (511 nm and 578 nm) spaced one month apart.
  • The treatment resulted in lighter skin with no side effects while highlighting the role of vascular factors in melanocyte behavior, suggesting the CuBr laser's dual-wavelength approach is promising for PUL management.

Hand eczema (HE) is one of the most frequent dermatoses, known to be both relapsing and remitting. Regular and precise evaluation of the disease severity is key for treatment management. Current scoring systems such as the hand eczema severity index (HECSI) suffer from intra- and inter-observer variance.

Background: Little is known about the efficacy and safety of single-balloon enteroscopy (SBE) in patients with Peutz-Jeghers syndrome (PJS). The aim of this study was to assess the efficacy and safety of SBE for the treatment of small bowel polyps in patients with PJS.

Methods: We conducted a single-center observational study, which included all patients diagnosed with PJS who underwent SBE for polypectomy between January 2018 and March 2021.

Article Synopsis
  • Peutz-Jeghers Syndrome (PJS) is a hereditary disorder marked by dark spots on mucous membranes and the presence of hamartomatous polyps in the gastrointestinal tract, leading to complications like bleeding and obstruction.
  • A 28-year-old female patient presented with abdominal pain and vomiting, revealing hyperpigmented lesions and diagnosed with intussusception, which was confirmed through tomography and surgically addressed via laparoscopy.
  • To minimize surgical risks and the potential for short bowel syndrome, it’s advised to regularly remove polyps endoscopically and use a combination of endoscopic and laparoscopic techniques for management in patients with PJS.

Spontaneous appearance of hyperpigmented macules on chronic vitiligo lesions is a very rare phenomenon, which is described as eruptive lentiginosis. We describe the case of a patient with chronic non-segmental generalized vitiligo who presented with a sudden onset of hyperpigmented macules on depigmented areas of the face. A biopsy showed pigmented basal keratinocytes in the interfollicular epidermis, and immunohisochemistry with anti-SOX10 antibodies showed nuclei of single melanocytes.
