Anti-N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor (NMDAR) encephalitis stands as the most prevalent form of autoimmune encephalitis, primarily affecting young patients and exhibiting a higher incidence among females. Patients frequently present with psychiatric symptoms or cognitive impairments such as speech disturbances, decreased level of consciousness, autonomic dysfunction, as well as seizures, dyskinesias, and catatonia due to overactivation of extrasynaptic NMDA receptors. To date, there is no gold standard for the diagnosis of catatonia; however, a few rating scales exist to measure this phenomenon, with the Bush Francis Catatonia Rating Scale being the most commonly used due to its validity, reliability, and ease of application.

Meningiomas are some of the most prevalent primary brain tumors in adults, and are typically non-neuroglial in nature. A variety of symptoms may be observed, including headaches, fluctuations in mental status, ataxia, muscle weakness, nausea and vomiting, seizures, visual changes, speech disorders, and sensory abnormalities. The World Health Organization (WHO) has a grading system for meningiomas based on histological criteria, which is as follows: Grade 1 meningiomas are considered benign; Grade 2 meningiomas have a moderately aggressive nature and usually present with histological atypia; and Grade 3 meningiomas exhibit aggressive malignant behavior.

Neuronal intranuclear inclusion disease (NIID) is a rare progressive neurodegenerative disease with a characteristic pathological feature of eosinophilic hyaluronan inclusions in the nervous system and internal organs. The identification of GGC-repeat expansions in the Notch 2 N-terminal like C (NOTCH2NLC) gene facilitates the accurate diagnosis of NIID. Due to its rareness and high clinical heterogeneity, the diagnosis of NIID is often delayed or missed.
